Those applying must prove themselves during a six week trial period. They must also be approved by 23 of the officers of the posse. The Sheriffs Posse mounted on privately owned horses, enter state, district and region riding competition in August and September. They go on trail rides once a month and have practiced in the Ogden Coliseum during the winter, rk the federal one-hal- $24,013 drill and parade a team in rodeos and parades during the summer. During the winter they train in rescue operations each week and practice first aid. Hector Flint, who joined the posse in 1940, is the oldest member of the posse at 79. Judy Mackey, 20 and Tom Mackey, 21 are the youngest members of the posse. There are nine women in the posse, Capt. Higgs said, grant will initiate the mental health program, eventually collections from patients will f the cost. The pay remaining 50 per cent service cost will be paid by the state and county, with the state assuming 90 per cent of the cost and the county 10 per cent.
