FEBRUARY 26, 1976 REFLEX-DAV- IS Historic Production At Davis Davis High School observed the Bicentennial year with a dramatic presentation of the nations historical develop- ment from a country of revolution to the role of world leader in an assembly on Friday. DIRECTOR of the assembly was Mrs. Marian Storey of the English Dept., assisted by a committee composed of Keri and Jennifer Twitched, Julie Olsen, Debbie Davis, Sandy Larsen, Dorothy Parrish, DeAnn Willis, Stewart Kirkpatrick, Grant Call and Lance Sylvester. The assembly opened with a monologue by David Blair depicting the return of a young man to his country which had become a police state while he was away on vacation, extolling the loss of freedoms through complacency or indifference. THE DAVIS High ; Awards were presented last Thursday to the winners of i; North Layton Junior Highs PTA speech contest. J THEY ARE, in order from first to sixth, Kelly Wade, Lisa Adams, Ross Taylor, Cori Day, Donna Wells and Sid 5f. JS Findlay. Approximately thirty S students prepared and presented their oratories to a PTA committee on the topic What America Means to Me. The judging reduced the field to nine and from that III! the top six were awarded trophies. THE TOP three received cash prizes of $15, $10 and $5 for first, second and third respectively. THE evolvement of our present day flag from the Cross of St. Andrew and the red cross of St. George of England was narrated by a Bicentennial group from Weber High School. The same group presented the American flag with a drum and fife corps dressed in traditional costumes. Ellen Dibble and Dale Ford had the longest, most competitive spelling contest in the recent history of the school in the ninth grade contest Thursday. Ellen finally won. with Dale a close second and Kathy Murray taking third place. Jaycettes Visit At Monte Vista On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Layton Jaycettes made their annual Valentines visit to the Monte Vista Training School in Farmington. Valentine treats for the children the Jaycettes also provided a program of clowns and a ALONG WITH magic show. The Jaycettes make several visits to the school during the year and find them very enjoyable and rewarding. Chairman for the valentines vistit was Mrs. Robert Duff- KJHS Names Solo Winners The winners of the solo and ensemble festival at Kaysville Jr. High for strings are: Eileen Hilton, violin solo; Carol Laser, violin solo; Dana Reese, cello solo; Eric Hansen, bass solo. BOTH THE the eighth and ninth grade teams were vic- torious in basketball last Friday against North Layton, leaving Centrals ninth graders undefeated for the year. Tomorrows games against Centerville will be the last regular games of the season.
