The outside vault door was blown by injecting the liquid around the combination dial and the inside door through the keyhole. Gaining entrance to the vault which is also used by the Layton Sugar Com pany and separated by an iron grating, the 21 safety deposit boxes were blown by injecting the explosive through the key holes. In all, 21 boxes were blown, five of which were empty and five others contained nothing of value. Boxes were selected for blowing in checkerboard fashion, evidently with the hope of opening the entire sec tion of boxes.
