It pudding, Patty Gardenseed will Address Kaysville Rotary 4- -, For several .years the Layton ball park has been getting worse, until now it is a disgrace to any citv, large or small. It you have not seen it lately, go down and see it and then try to realize that not very mane years ago it was the best in Davis County. Now Clear-tielKaysville. Farmington, Centerville, Bountitnl, and even Syracuse have better facilities and better dia rounds than Layton. From the best to the worse in a few years because of uncalled-fo- r neglect ot water and proper care. If the youth of Layton are going to have to have their recreation by playing in the dirt, then who is blame when they dont show' up to play? Who wants to play in the dirt that is 2 inches to 3 inches deep, and hard as a rock underneath? Who wants to have to hold their breath, shut their eyes for a few minutes when someone slides into a base, or the wind is blowing? Who wants to sit on broken and dirty bleachers? Who wants to drink from a plugged up water fountain? Who wants to walk through the mud to get a drink? Who? I for one dont want to, but I have been doing it for the past tew years. Any time a public water lountain is plugged up for over two years there is uncalled-fo- r neglect by those lesponsible, and who iv lines drawn by the responsible? Are there clear-cu- t schools and church the as to who does city, county what, and who pays for what? The following is a list of the improvements that must be made befoie next spring arrives: Plant grass in all the bare spots on the whole school grounds, especially at the ball diamonds. Replace the wire screen on both sides of the diad, mond. Replace or repair the back stops. Repair and paint the bleachers. Replace the players seating benches. Replace the water fountain and water drain install two water fountains, if possible. At least have one sanitary one that functions correctly. Replace the fuse and switch box for the softball lights. The present set up is very dangerous. (Sparks shower anyone turning the lights one.) Have all burned out lights replaced. (One light ha not been replaced in two softball seasons.) Above all, get the ball diamonds in A-- l condition by making them look like diamonds and planting grass wherever it is needed. Kill in the holes throughout the school grounds, then plant grass there. The weeds along the fence lines and along the parking strip should he controlled every year. The hall diamond should he cared for each day of 'Continued on Pape 4) d .
