DAVIS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Rodney W. Walker Davis County ByROSELYN KIRK A proposed plan and budget, which will cost Davis County about $82,000 for the 1978 calendar year for the operation of the Aging Program was taken under advisement by county commissioners on Tuesday. THE PROPOSED plan and budget was reviewed at a public hearing on Tuesday in the County Commission Chambers. About 30 people were present, but none protested the plan proposed by the administrators of the Council on Aging. Hap Robinson, chairman of the Council on Aging advisory board, conducted the presentation. The bulk of the funding for the proposed program for the aging will be picked up from the federal government through Titles III, VII, and XX of the Social Security Act. Federal funding will total $167,934, according to a summary of cash resources available to the program, as presented by Alice Johnson, Council on Aging Director. MRS. JOHNSON said the total program for the aging was made possible through the Older Americans Act, passed in 1974 by the U.S. Congress. Congress passed the legislation necessary to coordinate community resources for the benefit of the elderly. The act provided for the Council on Aging which is an advocate for older persons over 60. THE MONEY resources presented by Mrs. Johnson also showed a total of resources amounting to $21,000 provided by volunteers who help with the meals that are provided to senior citizens at four locations in the county. Rosemary Davis, who heads the nutrition program for the Aging, provided through Title VII funds, said that meals are served at four locations: the Golden Years Center in Bountiful, the Heritage Center in Clearfield, the Layton Center-anthe Crestwood Housing Project in Kaysville. d IN ADDITION, A meals on wheels nutrition program is provided to the aging who are not able to leave their homes to eat the daily meal at the central locations. Mrs. Davis said that the total number of meals has served quarterly increased from 3,322 in the quarter beginning in October 1975 to 11,745 in the quarter beginning in June 1977. In addition, the program provides counseling in nutrition. Director Mary Stauffer from the Golden Years Center in Bountiful and Carl Albrecht-sen- , director of the Heritage Center in Clearfield talked about present programs in education, health, recreation, and home service. These programs are currently in progress in those centers. perns Mew svfis NOTICE TO WATER USERS unless otherwise designated.
