Show WEEKLY REFLEX-DAV- NEWS JOURNAL. JULY 7, IS 1 977 iadhi Spoirti: OhiDcth) Os By DAVE programs are set up for the students and therefore should be taken advantage of. Any sport an athlete is interested in, and then some he or she hasnt heard of, are all offered in these programs. All team and the majority of individual sports are offered through these intramural programs. Stemming from this program are also clubs the school sponsors, such as the soccer and rodeo clubs. IF TIME OR travel doesnt permit the student to participate in the school activities then they should look into the city and county programs. The recreational departments are always offering programs in basketball, softball and just about any other sport in which enough people want to participate in. SO EVEN though the so called glory days of hearing the crowd cheering may be over for a large number of athletes, the chance to participate in above average competition is still there. Many of the high school players are involved in these programs, so dont just sit around and wish you were still on a school team, get into action with the in- tramurals or recreational programs. im Gets $50,000 ScorS&osnd Gift From Drawer Family part ot the cloud suspended from the center by steel rods. Two years ago they had to win the hard way coming through the losers bracket. This year they did it the easy way, winning all of their games, making them the first team to go undefeated in the tournament. Opening round games proved to be the most impressive as all the teams involved played well. The Centerville Tenth White team was defeated by the Bountiful third squad. The third place honors went to the Third Ward who had a hard time getting by the Bountiful 12th. their first tournament loss. Bountiful 12th then eliminated the Third Ward giving the Third Ward the 12th third place standing. That set up a repeat of last years finals featuring Centerville and Bountiful. The Centerville club then handed the 12th Ward their second loss to win the title. Kaysville 15th and Farmington Fifth each had up and down games in the tourney, both look impressive at times and then turned around and looked the exact opposite. WEST Bountiful Fourth Ward earned the respect of everyone in the tournament as they gave the top teams problems. In the first game the Fourth Ward downed the Centerville Seventh Ward, then the Fourth dropped a game to the winning Centerville Tenth team, but that game went down to the sixth inning before the Fourth Ward gave in. Probably the surprise of the tournament was the play of the young Centerville Seventh team. After dropping their first game this team came back to beat the Kaysville and Bountiful Fourth clubs to get into the final four. terville Tenth and Seventh along with Bountiful Third and 12th remained in the eight-teatourney. Hitting a ball involves more, but that doesnt mean it is harder, to hit something first you have to use your vision to anticipate where the ball will be. Then you have to use your judgment as to whether the ball will break down to the right or left or keep coming straight at you.
