With the new radio-telephones, the checker, above left, calls the information in to the office, above right, where it is automatically, recorded by machines similar to office dictating recorders. The unit weighs 13 pounds and operates off of rechargeable storage batteries with aluminum cells. When the checker presses the talk button, the recorder in the yard office is automatically switched on. Information from the record is then used to pull waybills for departing trains. Two FM channels are in operation at Kansas City. Six channels will go in at Council Bluffs, six at Cheyenne, two at Denver and one at Green River. Weston, Salt Lake City author and book publisher, Saturday night announced his candidacy for election to the Congress of the United States as a representative from the Second Utah District, which consists of Salt Lake, Utah, Tooele and Davis counties. A lifelong Democrat, Mr. Weston has made his home in Utah for the past 12 years, having come here as an officer in the army air corps in 1940. He was a candidate for the legislature in 1940, and for the state senate in 1948 and 1930.
