Show I News and Features of Interest to Residents of Davis County. LAYTON. DAVIS COUNTY, UTAH Through the centuries since the first Easter, this day has taken on innovations and customs that seem far removed from the true significance of the holiday. For instance, we have the Easter bunny and the Easter egg, both of which seem to have become traditionally associated with, Easter. The day has also come to be accept-e- d as an occasion for putting on fine clothes and joining in the "Easter parade." These things are apparently here to stay and it would take a stern character indeed to denounce them. Such customs may change in centuries to come and it would be interesting to know how Easter will be celebrated in, say, the year 5950. The lighter aspect of Easter may be susceptible to change, but the greater and more solemn meaning of this Holy occasion stands as immutable as the teachings of He whose rising it venerates. So this Sunday, as in ages past, and in the indeterminate future to come, people will gather in their respective places of worship to pay homage in Easter services. |
