Blood, made the nominating speech Saturday morning at the State Democratic convention for John S. Boy-de- n for governor. Ralph Ashby Ashby returned home Ralph from his Reserve Training with the twith Armoured Division at Yakima, Washington, after two weeks. While there, Ralph was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Steven Rushforths Mr. and Mrs. Steven Rushforth and family visited Sunday in Morgan with Mr. and Mrs. Laurel matched pair pleasure; Margaret Larson, second in the ladies western pleasure; Reth Waite, third in the ladies western pleasure and Darlene Randall, 3rd in the parade horse class. The Roots N Saddle club, which is led by Drill Master Frank Reed, Clinton, also won first place in parade and second place in drill. These winners will compete at the state meet in Payson, August 17 and 18. COMPETE AT MEET Members of the Roots N Saddle ladies riding club took part in the Western Riding Clubs district meet at Kaysville last Saturday evening. The group is an auxiliary club to the Davis County Posse. Winners from the club included Shirley Hammon, West Point, third place in the trail class; Reth Waite, Layton, and Margaret Larson, Clearfield, second in the Rock. District Two Western Riding Clubs Meet In Kaysville Kaysville The four western riding clubs of District 2 of the Utah State Western Riding Club Association held a meet at the Davis County Fairgrounds last Saturday. Events were held at 1 p m. and 7 p.m. between the Davis County Sheriff's Posse, Boots 'N Saddles auxiliary unit of the Davis Posse; Riders of the Wasatch, Ogden, and Twin Star Riders, Bountiful. Ladies pleasure: Karen Draayer, Davis; Margaret Larson, Boots N Saddles; and Beth Waite, Boots Funeral Services1 Priest Quorum Conducted For Goes Camping IVilford Morgan Funeral services for Layton Wilford Morgan, GO, were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Layton Fifth Ward. Mr. Morgan died Friday night at his home. Born July 1, 1887, in Kaysville, he was a son of John William and Lucy I. Bennett Morgan. He was . married to Jessie Mogeson. She died several years ago. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Army overseas, participating in several important battles. Family Party Mr. and Mrs. II. B. Eatchel entertained at a family party Sunday at their home. BIRTHS The Priest Quorum of the Clearfield 2nd Ward, North Davis Stake, took a camping trip to Redfish Lake in Idaho Monday through Saturday, July The Priests, in the Aaronic Priesthood, were supervised by the priesident of the quorum, Bishop Victor R. Smith, and the advisor, Gale Stevenson from Clearfield. A total of sixteen including the supervisors, quorum members, and Milton Hadfieldand son from Ogden, left Clearfield at 3 a.m., Monday morning for Redfish Lake. The party reached Redfish Lake at 4 p.m. and put up camp. They spent six days boating, water skiing, horseback riding, and other outdoor sports as well. After having their fill, the party started back Saturday morning, July 28, and reached their home Ogden. Visit Parents Lt. and Mrs. David T.
