I remember not understanding why the death of someone I never knew had such an effect on me, and it was then that I realized the emotional connection that fans have with the athletes. Showtime was as electrifying as it gets in professional Well, here we are folks, the last month of the century. The Artist Everyone Still Calls Prince has been getting us ready for this for 15 years. When a decade, or a ear or e en a month comes to an end, it is the job of the media to produce countless lists. It becomes necessary to document one person's favorite, most memorable events, people or happenings of a time period. These lists are like little time capsules, so all the world will know the things that were truly important during a given period of time. You know, lists like "People of the Century, Albums of the Year'. or my persona! favorite, "Plays of the Week. Being that we. media junkies, are constantly bombarded by these lists. I figured, why should 1 be any different? We are approaching a fascinating and remarkable time with the millennium, and I wouldn't be much of a sports editor if I didn't put together a few lists. The problem is. I've only been alive for a quarter of this century. Sure. I could sit here and talk about things that happened long before I was born, and before the months over I probably will, but right now I feel like only talking about the things that have made my first 24 as a sports fan great. These are the people, places and things that ha e taken place since 1975. and have shaped me as a sports fan. At times, they made it seem that sports was the most important thing in the world, and at other times, they made sports seem like the most trivial thing around. Of course. I dont have enough room to list every single thing that has touched me. and this list is in no particular order, but these are some of the ones that I can think of right now. VIEWMOIUT aDnBDftw?
