With 2.56 left in the game Davis scored their last TD as Jeff Fowler hit Jason Gardiner with a pass that gave the Darts life as they were just behind by three. Skyline took over the hall which looked like they would just run the CENTERVILLE The Viewmont Vikings soccer team showered coach Richard Cook with a couple of presents for his birthday Thursday afternoon. First, they gave him a Region 2 championship and second, another victory over arch-rivBountiful. They also showered him with water after the 1 triumph. The win broke a deadlock at the top of region standings and sends Viewmont into the state playoffs this week as the number one seed from Region 2 with a 1 record. Bountiful is the number two seed with an 2 region mark. On Tuesday Viewmont will host Hunter and Bountiful will host Taylorsville. With the score tied at 1 and about 20 minutes left in the game, Holly Crockett lofted a perfect corner-kick to Tiffany Roundy who headed the ball into the net for the winning goal. Tiffany's sister Monica tied the game in the first half on a direct penalty kick. The Braves jumped out to a lead when Caroline Putz quick broke free and rifled in a shot. Bountiful had one goal negated when Putz slid a pass to Kristy Detton who scored. Officials called offsides on the play. It was a classic matchup between two of the top soccer teams in the state. Each team had opportunities and Bountiful had some good looks toward the end of the game, but couldnt convert. When you're playing against a good team you have to put away your chances and we didnt today, clock down, however the Darts defense came to life as they held Skyline to four straight plays and 2-- punted 8-- Standings Region 2 nips 28-2- 5 position for a Chad Hansen field goal. Finally Davis got to the line giving Hansen his chance at tying the game. With seven seconds and Hansen poised tor the kick. We knew that they would come out hungry and we had to light to win this game. We came out with much more intensity than we did against Cottonwood. We had the best practices this week We felt that we could win. W'e wanted to get at them in OT, because we could have beat then. For me I had a great time tonight. It would be even better if we had won. In summing up the game, Dav is head coach Jim Dickson said they felt better this week over the last game. We played hard tonight and I couldn't ask the team to give any more than they did W'e can't blame the officials lor the calls they made; W'e wanted to play them in OT The Darts' next game will be Thursday against the Rams of Highland.
