Show Golden Years Holds Luncheon The Golden Years Club members met at Viewmont High School cafeteria for the closing luncheon of the season. Grant Peterson, who was master of ceremonies, called the meeting to order and greeted all guests present. COY HAYWARD told of progress being made on the Golden Years building and urged donations be made by those who had not given and more by anyone who cared to do so. There are many more items needed at the center. It is hoped the opening date will be July 6, 1977. WOMEN from the various churches were there to help serve. They and the cooks were especially thanked for their help. Boxes of candy were presented to the supervisor of the school cooks and others. Mrs. Thelma Eggett was especially es-pecially honored. LESTER Neilson, president of the Utah State Coalition of Senior Citizens of Utah was introduced. He explained the work of the coalition and collected one dollar from many of those present for a subscription to the paper published by the Coalition of Utah. Mr. Neilson stated that there are 139,650 seniors in Utah. THE invocation and blessing bless-ing on the food was given by R. Lamar Barlow. Mrs. Elizabeth Roundy led in the salute to the flag. Birthday people stood and were honored with the Happy Birthday song. Mrs. Blanch Moss led the singing and Mrs. Ardelle Mills played the piano accompaniment. MR. Hayward thanked the staff, Mrs. Mary Stauffer and Mrs. Merle Taggert and all the loyal volunteers who had served the past year. Announcements were made of coming events and especially the summer picnic on June 24, 1977 at the Davis County Park in Farmington. The annual convention will be held in Rapid City in September. Sep-tember. President Jimmy Carter will be the guest speaker. THE musical entertainers were two senior citizens from Salt Lake City. They were Mrs. Dean B. Norberg with the accordion and Fffie Yates, the guitar. They sang many old -time songs and many new, to the Golden Years audience. These two senior citizens have been singing together for over 25 years, blm |
