After writing two other books on Victorian lifestyles, family traditions, etc., Sarah Ban Breathnach has hit upon a hit, and she is making the most of it. Simple Abundance, a Daybook of Comfort and Joy is to be read by the calendar, one topic for each day of the year. Each day section is about a page long, and there is a short summary for each month. It has a pink ribbon to mark your Aromatherapyy, Spiritual Growih Through Film, Fancy Pantry. That last title well represents my objections to Ban Breathnachs philosophy. I dont try to have an ugly pantry, but my little jars of want to take care of lace and cut crystal. Ban Breathnach has sections on how to meditate into a large, gold framed mirror, on making a collage of pictures cut from magazines that preserves your favorite colors, textures, and shapes. She suggests creating a treasure map of what you want your life to be like. This kind of stuff makes me tw itchy. On the more positive side, May includes sections on the emotional benefits of cleaning the closet, simplifying, and going junking". June teaches organizing your papers and gardening. August has a section on old books. Managing your money, time, and relationships are all discussed. And, most importantly, it appears topics. I buy few books.
