BEVERLY HASLAM City Recorder Published in the Davis County Clipper on Sept 15, 1995 Issue No. 63 Homecoming Week held at Viewmont High Kathy Marinello Student Reporter Vikings. Are you a Viking? Ever since the days of my youth I have pondered this subject, wondering what exceptional qualities these Vikings possessed that made them so well known. Samuel Carter III in his book Vikings Bold said, "If one were to choose some other age or some other society to live in, one might well choose to be a Viking. For no other people on earth enjoyed adventure more or excelled as the Vikings in getting pleasure and excitement ' out of life. After becoming submersed in the spirited environment of Viewmont High School for my third year, I have come to the conclusion that . . . Vikings Rock the World!!! Just as the Vikings of old revealed in dancing, festivals, feasting, conquests, and friends, so shall the Viewmont school year proceed. Vikings of the 995-'9- 6 The school year started out with Creation Week where friendships, unity, and above all else. The elections for Sophomore Class office are taking place this week and the results will be announced in a future column. This week is Homecoming Week with the theme Viewmont Rocks the World! The traditional Vikings of earlier centuries left behind a great legacy that is worth trying to replicate, at least on a small scale in Davis County. This week has offered such activities as the of the massive V by the seniors (more paint gets on the students-tha- n on the V); the traditional Powder Puff football game between the juniors and seniors; the parade, pep rally, and bon fire on Thursday; and the rocking football game against Davis High School tonight. Whether the Vikings win or not. our team is the best in my world. The week is concluded on Saturday, September 16 with the Homecoming Dance. The Seniors officers are in charge and they have put a lot of time into making this w eek awesome w ith the help of the cheerleaders. Vykelles, and other officers. The Homecoming royalty has not been chosen yet, but they will be presented in print next week. Thank you interested Viking fans for reading the whole article. It means a lot and we as officers hope to keep you informed. We love you!!! white-washi- Bar-B-- |
