Show LOLA CURTIS 80th Year On Sunday, March 25, Lola Helena Curtis was guest of honor at an open house on the occasion of her 80th birthday anniversary, hosted by her son Bill and his wife Gayle Curti9. Invited were friends, family members, neighbors and members of the Val Ver-da Ver-da Seventh Ward of which they are members. LOLA HELENA Officer was born in Stevensville, Mont, to Charles Herndon and Cornelia (Peters) Officer. However, the family moved and she was raised in Missouri. She met her husband-to-be, Elwin Curtis, when he was on his mission in Missouri. Following Follow-ing his release from his mission, mis-sion, the couple continued correspondence until after his army discharge. After a civil ceremony in Missouri on June 2, 1919, the couple traveled across i country and were married in the Salt Lake Temple three days later on June 5, 1919. THE COUPLE has three living children: Jay, lives with his wife Betty and family in Golden, Colo.; Pauline, married to Charles C. Smith and lives in Stevens Point, Wise; and son Bill and wife Gayle Curtis, who hosted the event at the Curtis home at 27 E. 3600 S. in Val Verda which both families share.
