The Davie county Argua published at Farm- ington by D. P. Felt A Sons has the following timely article! on thto sub- Wm. DriverX Son DRUG COMPANY Goorgi W. Driver, Maih ject: The business men were of course keenly anxious to have no straw thrown in Bamberg ! way. On the other hand, they realise that there la a vast trade to be secured by the completion of Ids road Into Ogden There is no question but the Lagoon road has diverted much trade to Balt Lake, business that really belongs toe Ogden and was flowing Into Ogden prior to the building of the road from Salt Lake. To offset this situation, and to encourage a return of what is Odgens legitimate business, Mr. Bamberger has decided to furnish a market train from Farmington north and sell tickets at half price; that ia a return ticket will be sold for one fare. Aa thla rate is already lower than any other road now operating between Salt Lake and Ogden it should b a good thing for Ogden and a big convenience for Davie county. Of course thla lo wrate into Ogden will further vitiate the commercial Interests of the local merchants and business men. This situation always obtains to a greater extent in towns and communities Vtert they are so dose to trade centers as Davis county. We sent In our load of garden or farm products and naturally establish a habit of buying In Salt Lake or Ogden, thus taking trade away from our local merchants to a greater or lees extent. This condition cannot be successfully met. hence the general store Is the rule rather than the exception and naturally the general store has not the variety of stock to meet the demands of modern requirements. Moreover, every portion of thto county has either a well conducted farm, stock ranch or garden on which the home Is built frequently almost aa far from the local store aa is Salt Lake or Ogden, hence when the father or boys go to either place they arc generally charged to bring borne something from town almost anything from a spool of thread to a threshing machine or new range for the kitchen. We have always thought, and contended that the completion of the Lagoon road would open up an Interesting scramble to secure the suburban trade; It Is nowhere so open to competition as it to In Davis county. It Is the only territory In Utah that Is so definitely a suburban stretch of territory, and so carefully provided for transportation facilities Including three railroads, and average good roads that are to be Improved to become the best in the " state. The question Is: Are the business men of Ogden Intending to get thto business? We are convinced that they win use every legitimate effort to do so, and Bamberger la affording every opper-tunit-y within his power to help Ogden In the business.
