The Ogden Tabernacle choir is now completing Its arrangements for the excursion to Portland In the middle of August, And has engaged from Salt Lake as soloists. Prof. J. J. McClellan, organist, and Mlsa Emmn Lucy Gates, soprano. Both artists are engaged for four concerts, three of which will be sung in Portland, and one In Boise. It la likely also that the choir will be heard on one or two occasions, snd Miss Gates will render the soprano solo In the noted "Irrigation Ode" by McClellan, at the special exercises at the fair. It Is understood that the choir will be 240 voices strong for the excursion, about the same number of voices that the Salt Lake tabernacle choir took on Us famous competitive trip to the world's fair In 1892. Into districts to be governed by one board of trustees came up for discussion at the meeting of the board of county commissioners held yesterday afternoon. There was considerable argument on the matter but finally Commissioner Wilson, who had held out for a long time against the plan of consolidation, saw that Commissioners Madsen and Stanford would not come over to his side and therefore it was useless to hold out longer. The following report waa submitted by Chairman Stanford: Gentlemen: On behalf of the com mittee appointed to submit a repoit for the consolidation of tho school districts of Weber county and provide In said report for the manner of procedure In carrying Into effect the provisions of Chapter 107, Laws of Utah, 1905, relating to school districts of the first class approved March 9, 1905, I beg to submit the following: Whereas, Weber county outside of the corporate limits of Ogden City has a school population of more than three thousand pupils from alx to eighteen lt: 8,279 children, sa years of age, appears from the last enumeration reported to the office of the Weber county superintendent of schools; and Whereas, By virtue of said school population as aforesaid, Weber county outside of the corporate limits of Ogden City cornea under the provisions of the law passed by the last legislature and approved by the governor on March 9, 1905. Therefore, I move that the now existing school districts In Weber counSchool district No. 1, emty, lt: bracing the school population In the settlements of Hooper, Roy, Kanes-vlll- e, Taylor, Wilson and Garland; School district No. 2, embracing the school population in the settlements of Plain City, Poplar, Warren and Farr West, the school districts of North Ogden, Pleasant View, Harrls-vill- e, Randall, West Weber, Marriott, e. Hlverdale, Burch Creek. Uintah, and Perry, Eden. Huntsville, Liberty be, and the same are hereby abolished. 0 I further move that all the territory of Weber county outside of the corporate limits of Ogden City and the school population residing therein be and the same la hereby organised under the provisions of chapter 107, Laws of Utah, 1905, Into one school district, to he known as Weber count) school district. I further move that the precincts of Weber county be organised into five representative precincts to be known as the school representative precincts of Weber county, for the election of one representative from each representative precinct thus organised, to form the board of education to control In all matters pertaining to the interests of the public school population of Weber county; that the precincts of North Ogden, Pleasant View, Harrls-vlll- e and Randall be known as school representative precinct No. 1; that the precincts of Hooper, Kanesvllle, Taylor, West Weber and Roy be known as school representative precinct No. 2; that the precincts of Wilson. Garland, Marriott Rlverdale. Burch Creek and Uintah, be known as school representative precinct No. 3; that the precincts of Plain City, Farr West Warren. Slaterville and Perry be known as school representative precinct No. 4. and that the precincts of Eden, Huntsville and Liberty be known as school representative precinct No. 6; and Whereas, Said Weber county school district Is by law constituted a county school district of the first class, and the public school system therein is reqquired to be under the control of a board of education consisting of five members, one from each five representative precincts within snid district; therefore, be It Resolved, By the' board of county commissioners of Weber county, that B. F. Blaylock, Sr., be appointed a member of the board of education In and for school precinct No. 1; that Antone Christianson be appointed a member of the board of education In and for school precinct No. 2; that F. W. Stratford be appointed a member of the board of education In and for school precinct No. 3; that J. B. Carver be appointed member of the board of education In and for school precinct No. 4: that John Halls be appointed member of the board of education in and for school prednet No. 5. each being a resident, qualified, registered voter tn the school representative precinct from which he Is designated. said five members of the said board of education to constitute the board of education of said Weber county school district, to serve until the first regular meeting of the board of education In January, 1906. and until their successors have been duly elected and have qualified.
