The states represented include Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and the Carolina. The officers in charge of the convention, In addition to the directors from each state, are: President, Walter B. Hill, LL. D., chancellor of the UniverFrancis sity of Georgia; P. Venable, LL. D., president of the University of North Carolina; treasurer, E. P. Barns, member of board of education, Atlanta, Ga.; secretary, R. J. Tighe, superintendent of schools, Asheville, N. C. The general sessions of the convention will be held In the board of trade auditorium, and the conferences of the several departments in the Windsor hotel assembly room, the courthouse and the auditorium of the Womans club. At the formal opening of the convention this evening the visitors will be welcomed on behalf of the state by Gov.-ele- ct Broward, and on behalf of the city by Hon. D. U. Fletcher, president of the board of education. After these formalities have been disposed of the association will listen to the address of President HtlL which will be the feature of the session.
