Kinkead wan burn in Philadelphia In 1826. At the age of 18 he went to Salt Lake, v e he resided five years, engaged in business with J. M. Livingston. In :,4 he removed to California, and two years later married a daughter of J. c. Fall, of Marysville, Jn that state. It was in 1860 that Kinkead settled In Nevada, and until his death he made that state his home. In due time he entered politics and shortly after he was appointed territorial treasurer under Governor Nye. He was a member of both constitutional conventions which organized the state. He waa also governor of Alaska by appointment of the federal government. In 1878 he was elected governoi of Nevada, and since then he has been prominently connected with the political affairs of that state. He was a man of fine education and In all his intercourse with his fellow men was every Inch a gentleman. The news of Governor Klnkead's death will be read with Interest by the people of Nevada, Utah and California.
