"The Teuton Against the Roman was the topic of a highly entertaining lecture last night at the Weber Stake academy by Professor George Marshall of the University of Utah. The hall was well tilled with interested hearers and on the whole the lecture was one of the very best of the seasons series. In the beginning the speaker gave an epitome Sf government in general, and among other thlngss aid: Two thousand years ago or more the the Roman government was strongest nation In the world, and exercised a parent control over the meeker nations. This nation, whether a kingdom, a kind of democracy, or as an empire, ruled with a strong hand, the power being vested in a few. Soon factions grew up; and from these, or rather among these, percolated the which manleaven of ifested itself in a desire to appoint their own rulers. This brought about political rivalries, a lack of loyalty to far-ocentral government, and encouraged a viciousness among the Ignorant, which In time overthrew the the destruction of Roman empire, which was the best thing for it At the conclusion of thp lecture the audience Joined In singing "America. It is planned to ship a carload of choicest Utah fruit to the fair about October 1st, In time for the exhibit to be Installed by October 10th, which is Utah day.
