Show DAILY 4 UTAH STATE JOURNAL OGDEN, UTAH. FRANK J. CANNON. EDITOR. BOUND TOGETHER IN FRATERNITY. The most important business hour for modern Utah was that of the banquet at Salt Lake last night given by the Commercial club of the capital for the members of that organization and the IVeber club of Ogden. For many years it has been the hope of thoughtful men that the two cities would join in a generous fraternity to advance the interests of both and thereby enhance the splendor of the state. Long since, all thought of rivalry by Ogden of Salt Lake ceased; and all thought by Salt Lake of Ogden as an opponent of whom she should feel a jealous fear was buried. Each city has its own distinction and its own distinctiveness. Salt Lake is at once the political, ecclesiastical, financial and sentimental metropolis of Utah and even more extended territory; Ogden is the most imjjortant railway center of the state; and each will probably retain its eminence for a generation and perhaps for all time. In behalf of Ogden let this word be said to Salt Lake: We apd and candid manner preciate the in which you receive Ogden and recognize her worth. In return, this city and its people pledge to you their most cordial sympathy in all your undertakings. May both cities prosper as never before; may the sentimental tie which now binds them be speedily solidified into a n tangible bond by the establishment of electric railways and the building of a continuous town from the temple in Salt Lake to the court house in Ogden. Salt Lake is a great and glorious city; and Ogden is equally glorious and almost as great although far less populous. To both cities and to the state the fraternity and the reciprocal relations established between the Commercial club and the Weber club will prove DECEMBER UTAH STATE JOURNAL, TUESDAY, 1903 15, Platt. In his anxiety to recover lost political ground he has made an alliance with Governor Odell of New York, by which he is to recognize Odell as the political boss of the state and in return is to receive the votes of the New York delegation at Chicago next year. The New York Sun, now become the most influential paper of the Republican party, sees in the situation nothing but danger to Roosevelt and the Republican ticket.
