Show DAILY UTAH STATE JOURNAL OGDEN, UTAH. FRANK J. CANNON, EDITOR. A PATRIOTIC COHJVNCTIOH. State Journal believes partisanship which makes men and staunch and loyal adherents of party. Anything less than this trends toward the loosening of ties which bind people together in political relationship and toward a nebulousness in administration usually hurtful to the state The UTAH STATE JOURNAL, boundaries of the County lying west of the mouth of Ogden Canyon; and all the people who dwell therein are .Ogden people. The enrichment of the business of this City by the contributions of business from the County and the enrichment of the suburban districts by the patronage and support of the City, are all making for mutual advantage and for the glory of Greater Ogden. Every carload of produce sent from the farms of the County through the business houses of Ogden, every dollar of trade given by the farmers to the merchants of Ogden, every sugar factory established by Ogden capital out among the farms, every cannery and every dairy operated by Ogden men and Weber County men, all add to the growing power of Greater Ogden and assure us of the day when our City boundaries will go from the mountains to the lake and from Box Elder to Davis. It is alike important to the farmer and to he City dweller that they shall labor with equal devotion for that Greater Ogden, which within a few years will spread the advantages of electric railway communication, electric ighting, and good roads, throughout Ogdens xmndaries; and extend and intensify the commercial power which has already made, in its energetic growth, the name of our City and ler business men famous throughout the West. A good cause to labor for just now is the cause of Greater Ogden. and its progress. But people should be partisan because they believe in the supremacy of their party; and they should believe in the supremacy of their party because of the righteousness of its principles and the patriotism of its candidates. Anything less than this trends toward an insensate subordination to ring rule always hurtful to the state and its people. The only just reason for party organization is to secure good government. Anything less than this is destructive of the sole righteous motive which brings people within the discipline and obligations of party rule. When, therefore, it appears to any voter that his party's triumph would be hurtful to the cause of good government, his duty clearly commands him to oppose it; as his duty, business prudence and good sense would command GET TOGETHER. him to oppose any palpably fraudulent purpose in private affairs.
