It's simply beof the enthu-ilas- t. yond the wildest dreams The extent of the district Is very peat in fact the confines of the mineralised area have never been fixed, exen tentatively, by the ubiquitous prospector. The same chances for fortune and success exist today as they did before the present great dividend payers were opened. The eagle-eye- d prospector has smoothed the road to success. He has opened the way to fortune for hundreds of people possessed of the necessary business sense to embrace the real opportunity devel- irror by the meagerly compensated It Is a fact powerfc of the pioneera apparent to all who study the development of the resources of a new country that the Influx of capital following the costly and tedious probation of the oped pioneers, reaps the first full harvest amid the security of demonstration and the comfort attendant upon better social and commercial conditions. The of a suinto the treasure vaults of nature and with the conscious power of a sue- -' cessful invader carries oil the conquered spoils to the heroic music of bombardment. The weapons he uses are steel and dynamite and heaven and earth tremble in the impact so fearfully directed by his unerring skill. It is estimated that the enormous sum of $150,000,000 has been extracted from the Coeur dAlene mines within the last ten years. The present annual production is over $11,000,000. A few well authenticated facts bearing upon the economic history of the district may prove of interest, if not of value, to persons who are already aware of the great profits to be made from good mining investments. The Standard Mining company was incorporated for 500,000 shares at $1 par value. This stock sold at 5 cents per share. The company has paid dividends to the amount of $6, per share and the stock was all recently taken up by the Federal Mining A Smelting company at $( per share. Thus an investment of five cents a few years ago would now have an account value of 11 One hundred dollars of an Investment at this rate would have been paid by the present time $24,000. Such investments were made and many eastern people took advantage and today are enjoying their reward. This is not a lone example. Every big mine opened in the Coeur dAlenes has presented such opportunities. Five years go stock in the Hecla mine could have been bought for $ cents per share. Today. 1( Is selling lit $1.05 per share. The company is 0 incorporated for and has paid 1200,000 in dividends. One hundred dollars invested five years ago In the Hecla mine would have "wde the investor a neat little sum of .16.S0. Six stamps mills are at the end of the road, waiting to be taken Into the district when better transportation Is offered, and, when working facilities have been provided, the camp will probably become a steady and profitable producer. While the early tales of the Thunder Mountain country may have been marked by exaggeration, the new district has done as well as could be expected under the circumstances. It, is now generally agreed that permanent bodies of ore exist and extensive development is only a question of time. The Inaccessibility of the district has been' one of tbe greatest drawbacks. It is difficult for people to get into It and the transportation of supplies and machinery Is laborious and expensive. Considering the obstacles encountered because of Its remoteness, the progress made in the last two years is decidedly creditable to those who have been identified with the development of the Spokane Review. camp.
