Show DAILY PAGE SIX. GREAT RUSH TO GOLDFIELD CAMP EASTERN CITIES HAVE CAUGHT THE FEVER. Low Rato Jut Inaugurated Malta an Unprecedented 8ala of Tickets. "I believe that Goldfield la the greatest mining vamp ever discovered in the world's history, " declares Henry M. Weber, now at the Brown, returning to Goldfield from a trip to Milwaukee and other eastern fit lea. I do not mean to disparage Cripple Creek or any other of the great camps which have made Colorado famous, and they will still be able to take care of themselves regurd-les- s of Goldfield, but the new Nevada camp has certainly outstripped anything that Cripple Creek or any of the others did in the first year of development. I was one of the earliest on the ground at Goldfield, securing a number of valuable Interests, but the camp has gone ahead so fust that I can hardly keep up with it- "Every day adds 10 the known extent of the rich territory. The proven district Is now four by six miles In area, and no one can make a conservative or intelligent estimate on how much further It will spread. "It is wonderful how the fame of the camp has spread In the east. During my trip to Milwaukee and St. Ixul I found that the people were thoroughly enthused about It. and the excitement promises to equal that of the early days of the Black Hills or Leadvllle. There are now about 10,000 people in the camp, but there are not sufficient accommodations to take care of the rush. The railroads have made a rate of 31 from Chicago, St. Louis and Mississippi river points to Goldfield, which took effect March 1. In Chicago the first day over 3,000 tickets were sold to I Goldfield, and 5,000 In St Louis. rush the any mining greatest predict camp ever saw during the next few weeks. Mr. Weber operated extensively at Tarryall, near Cripple Creek, for several years, but has now turned his entire attention to Goldfield with Mar. vin E. Ish, a former Denver boy, who was at one time connected with the Newand hits secured some of the most valuable holdings In the new camp, being Interested In nineteen different proiiosltlons, five of which are steady producers. Among the best known are the Conqueror, Tonopnh Club and Bo nanta claims. He is also Interested in the famous Kendall lease on the Oddie Gardner. With some of his associates, he has recently purchased the Atlanta and other claims adjoining the Jumbo and St. Ives, the Junibo having produced over $3,000,000 of the wealth from Goldfield. They paid $100,000 for the Atlnnta group, which Is said to be the lnrgest price ever paid in the camp for an undeveloped proposition. Mr. Weber is hurrying back to Gold field so as not to get too far behind the rapid progress of the camp. He la accompanied by W. E. Jeske, formerly assistant manager of the' Milwaukee Street Railway company, who will become Interested In some of the various propositions. Denver News. THE METRIIC SYSTEM MEASURES In the Popular Science Monthly for February Dr. A. E. Kennelly discuses the value of the metric system. The How to Get Well. Every organ of the body is directly connected with the brain by nerves. The nerve cells in the brain generate nerve force power and send it to the organ through these nerves, and this nerve-forc- e gives life and action. The organs work perfectly when there is sufficient nerve power. Lack of nerve force weakens the action of an organ and it works imperfectly becomes sick. Two-third- s of all sickness is thus due to weak or deranged nerves; it is therefore advisable to take Dr. Miles Restorative Nervine, because it makes nerve energy. When you cure the nerves you remove the cause, and thats the way to get well. Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine cured me of nervous prostration after every other effort had failed to glvs rne relief. My trouble seemed to begin with a general loss of and a breaking down of the strength nervous system. I suffered from headache, constipation end fluttering or palpitation of the heart. My failed and I wee so nervous andappetite restless that I could not sleep at night. My husband. who Is s druggist, brought me a bottle of Nervine. It helped me from the start, and 1 continued using it until I had taken six bottle. My health was completely restored." MRS. BILA M.MOUKHOUSE. North Adams. Mich. The metric system is by no means new in France. It was Introduced in 1785, in the third year of the French republic, and its introduction was greatly sided by the up heavsl of long established customs in France at that time. During the first half of the nineteenth century France stood almost alone in the use of this In the latter half scientific system. other nineteenth the of century countries of Europe adopted the system. Spain did this officially in 1848, Italy about 1850, Portugal In 1852, Switserland virtually In 1851 through the medium of a transition system, and finally In 1877, when the complete system w;s finally adopted. Germany Hnd Austria-Hungar- y officially adopt- ed the system in 1871; Russia officially In 1800. Denmark alone In corftenenta Europe declined to make the change, but It Is said that the system Is much used there, owing to the countries. influence of neighboring The pressure upon the contenental European nations to adopt a uniform International system has been considerable, owing to their relatively close geographical association, but beyond this and the advantages claimed for the metric system, no pressure lias been brought to bear. It Is said that the change was brought about a few weeks ago m Germany In the large cities, and In the country districts during the course of a few months. Within a year the metric system was practically universal. The manufacturers continued to use their old tools and standards, but they now graduated their products in the new units. As machines were renewed they were hanged so as to produce even metric sixes From this It Is seen that the transition m this country should not require any machine, tool or apparatus to be discarded. The difficulty of transition would not he in expensive new it would 11 in transmachinery, lating the old familiar sixes made by existing machinery Into the new units.
