FIGHT Tom Sharkey and Jack Munroe have signed articles for a match on or be- fore March 1, 1904, and Jim Jeffries has agreed to meet the winner. The match was made in New York recently, when Sharkey and his manager, Clark Ball, met Harry Pollock, manager of Munroe. Munroe could not be present at the meeting owing to his early departure for Butte, Mont Although several obstacles threatened the match, the boxers and their managers lost little time in coming to terms and finally signed articles of agreement and posted forfeits of $1,000 each to bind the math. Sharkey positively refused to fight in San Francisco, though that city was favored by Munroe's manager. Although the referee was ijot selected, it was decided that a good man would be accepted two weeks prior to the date of the contest The winner of the contest will take all, according to the conditions of the match. The club securing the match will be obliged to post a forfeit of $2,000 upon the acceptance of its bid. Marquis of Qneensbury rules will govern the contest, and soft bandages will be permitted. Neither of the boxers will be permitted to engage in any other matches until after the contest is decided. The ' fighters deposited checks for $1,000 each, to go as a forfeit in the event of either failing to live up to the conditions named in the articles. TO MEET TEMPLE. Little was done at the training quarters of the two fighters today. Both were content to quit with Just enough work to keep their muscles alive. Hanlon appears confident of his ability to win the decision. He Intends going after the champion and putting him out as quickly as possible. Ten rounds, he thinks will be enough to do- the trick. There is the same feeling of confidence in the Corbett camp. While the champion and his retainers all know' that Hanlon is one of the cleverest men at his weight in the world, they feel sure that Corbett will be able to defeat him as he did once before and make the victory even cleaner cut than on that occasion. Intense interest is manifested in the bout and the Hayes Valley Athletic club, under whose auspices the mill is to take place, expects a record breaking crowd to be on hand. Great satisfaction was expressed in sporting circles at the selection of Eddie Graney as referee of the fight. Yesterday Hanlon weighed a shade under 130 and Corbett about 133. The latter has begun the drying out process and says that he will have no difficulty in coming to weight without the loss of strength. Not much money has been laid yet.
