Show 9p. . . T- - w-'- - ii Cold rxcitement. HAIL. DAILY CQRIME JLL ATl?DAY, Recent discoveries have caused an excitement in the vicinity of Round Valley, Southern Idaho. Mr. Hiram House informs us that he saw gold quartz at the taken out thre which rale of 18,000 pr ton. Gold has been discovered near Malad City There is quite an excitement in relation to the discoveries already made and it is expected that further developments will attract the attention of miners and speculators." The fact is the whole of the ranges of mountains skirting our valley are filled with mineral wealth waiting only the hand of enterprise and industry to bring it out and make it available. Now that a different class of persons are coming into the country, such as are not hampered and fettered by thairon bonds of ignorance and superstition, the productions of the country will be utilized and the desert will indeed begin to blossom like the rose (that expression is patented.) While the prospectors and miners are delving among the mountains our farmers should bo iin proving their time in preparing to furnish them with supplies. Thcie should be ten thousand acres of our valley broken up within the next six weeks and placed in readings to receive the seed. There is every prospect of a short crop everywhere, and the large Amount of new mining country which will be opened up within the next ten months will ee insure an extraordinary demand for for two years to come. Now is the time to settle upon and improve the lands. There never was-- a better time for emigrants to make profitable investments than now. 20. The above estimate is a small one of the areA open to settlement. There is now an'irrignting canal eleven miles in length commanding an area of from 4,000 to 6,000 acres of as good land as can bo found anywhere. As soon as parties have made any considerable settlements the work will be commenced on the Bear River canal and the whole valley- be brought under irrigation. The canal will undoubtedly be commenced this season. Much of the land is still open for pre emption and homestead settlers,, while a large amount is held by the railroad, who offer the same on advantageous terms. Emigrants. are constantly arriving and settling upon these lands, where they can enjoy the advantages of a ready home market, and as it is the only place in Utah whiih is comparatively free from the paralyzing effects of MortnonLm, it offers inducements to the civilized portion of community that are not found elsewhere in the Territory. Our . settlers, so far, belong to the class that mean business and are willing to go to work, and such are the only kind that are needed, and all such may be assured of success. - GxifEWALOuTFiTTiNa.
