Governor Stanford, as President of the Central Pacific Railroad has signed the petition, the Company favoring the work, though probably half the subsidy will fall on them. This result is of conns received with great satisfaction by the people of Elko, who will be largely benefitted by the construction of the narrow gauge road. An additional source of interest lies in the fact that by this enterprise the narrow gauge system will have a fair tnal on this coast.
