Although we dont usually think of ourselves as making history when we vote, how we vote will decide the direction our nation takes in the future, much in the same way that the election of George Washington or Abraham Lincoln shaped our nations course two hundred and one hundred years ago. It is not so hard to study the lives of past presidents and to choose the best leaders we have had. The problem is, how do we choose the person who will be the best leader of our country now? We dont always have as much information as we would like about the various people running for president. We also neglect to learn about the candidates from is information what 1 vote could decide our nations future issues. available to us. When we see politicians on television making promises and acting tough, we wonder if they will keep those promises and if they are as decisive as they seem. Since every presidential hopeful makes promises and says he will be the best leader, whom do we believe? And how do we know what type of person would be best for the job? First, we must decide what qualities and ideas we does he solve them? What are the mans goals? These are two of this nations most respected presidents whose decisions in office decided the future of the United States. George Washington, known as the father of the country, was the first president. He helped America get its feet on the ground and also helped establish this want in our president. Then, we have to search for a person with those qualities, looking back to his childhood and early adulthood for answers about his identity. Some people vote for a man because of his position on a particular issue, such as inflation or abortion. This approach has its drawbacks, because it is not likely that we will find a candidate with whom we agree on all the important country during the Revolutionary War. Abraham Lincoln, who was our 16th president, made many decisions that changed our lives greatly. He aided in ending the Civil War and abolished slavery, allowing blacks the same rights as all others. He, like many others, stood up for what he believed in namely, this country. These are just two of the many thousands of people who dedicated their lives to the benefit of the people in know the candidate personally. Partial answers to these questions can be found in newspaper stories, magazine articles, and books. Any person who has been in public life for a while has had attention focused on his thoughts and actions by the press. We can also try to judge the candidate by observing him on television or in person. This day calls for the observation of each and every one of these people. It represents what this country stands for: freedom, the rights of the people, and the people themselves. The people make up this country, so the condition of the country depends on each and every one of us. Unification of the people of the United States is essential. We must support each other with all we have, clothe and feed the poor and needy, and help those who are unable. We must not weaken. The free world allies must unite. This strength is needed to stop the spreading of Communism. Many people have fought for this country. We must not stop fighting now.
