Show OGflOG'S 11 US1OT ISSHSK W TO Wm Weber High Ogden clash O nLf 1-- Give the guys a break folks! Its still Its that time of the year for the teams to work out their problems, learn new plays, etc. Dont worry theyll all get it together. Weber High picked up their second loss in as many weeks, but not after putting up a gallant effort. The Warriors after losing a heartbreaker to Box Elder the previous week, lost still another heart stopper to the Ogden Tigers on a last pre-seaso- "ci& n. minute field goal. Quarterback Jay McDonald scored twice for the Tigers with runs of one and eight yards to put pressure on Weber early. In the early going Weber was moving the ball but kept fumbling it away, giving Ogden key opportunities to score. Webers first score came on a 4 yard run by fullback Kip Johnson and Neil Miller added the PAT to make the score 13-- 7 in favor of the Tigers. Weber began to get momentum going into the fourth quarter as QB Steve Shaw brought his team down field and rifled a pass of 8 yards to Steve Lewis on fourth down and goal. Miller added the PAT as Weber led for the first time in the encounter 3 with just 2:25 remaining in the game. as they capitalized on Weber Ogden didnt give-u- p mistakes. Jay McDonald QB for the Tigers drove his team down to the field goal range and Roger Frischknecht split the uprights with the game winning field goal. The victoiy was exciting for Ogden and dissapointing for Weber, but Coach Hal Lewis assured us that his team was getting better each week despite the close defeats. The Tiger victory was a first for new head coach Dave Brown, who was elected with his teams performance. Coach Brown had this to say about the game. We just wanted to get after Weber this week. We have great respect for Weber and we knew these guys would come after us. They came down had us 3 ana our kids just never let up, we bait alot, but we just never let up said Brown. The kids have alot of heart, but it was a total team effort Good calls by our coaches was the key. The coaches called that game, they just played a super ball game. ' Standout players for Ogden were John Medina, Tom Chournes, Jim Dawson, Doe Leonard!, Chris Miller, Greg Hude, Dave Bird, Sterling Yeaman, Curt Hunter and Robbie Ayers. 14-1- 14-1- e JAY MCDONALD, Ogden High QB y-.- . n trjA o ,. 4i " ', u it $ 'M O f. o of Ogden High, earned his first vicnamed the head Tiger mentor last Friday tory since being 2 COACH DAVE BROWN against Weber.
