Blake, the present mayor of West Point, is the man whom West Point residents can look to with gratitude for the nature of park they have. He, along with the councilmen that have served with him for the past six years, have done everything possible to fullfil their dreams and the citys expectations to have a park of their own. Today the park is completed with some additions expected in the future. Tennis courts that have lights are a big feature in the park. Once a piece of ground was discovered, applications were filled out for the States Outdoors Recreation Matching Fund Program. After discussing how the matching monies were to be raised, the city mill levy was eventually upped to help raise the necessary funds. Within a 3 to 4 year period of time the funds were raised and Mayor Blake states that all the original plans for the present park have been met.
