The events that took place in that two hour .wait for gasoline were commonplace events to the rest of the crowd, but more of an exciting circus to me. Not long after we were in line, the wives of several husbands pulled up in a second car. It was now time for the husband and wife to eat a quick breakfast in the car, and switch places. The gasoline shortage in Washington, its real! Last Thursday morning we at 5:45 AM and a gas line at 6:00 were up sitting in AM. Moetof thoeeD.C. residents were furious and when I told them that gas was as plentiful as water in Utah, I think some plotted in their minds right then how they were going to move West. Even though I knew that gas wasnt that plentiful in Utah, the problem those people are going through is probably more than what most of us here imagine. I ask all them if theyve written to senator . or their congressman, but only one or two have. Gas stations in Washington usually open at 7:30 or 8:00 and close at 10:00 AM. Its a sight to see those, angry motorists turned away at 10:00 AM and asked to come back at 4:00 PM, you really dont know what to think. Cars line their way up for at least a mile in some places and a few traffic snarls and some accidents take place. See, why home is so sweet.
