The awards were the highlight of an evening which saw a number of C.H.S. students honored for achievements in all areas of sports and academics this past school year at Clearfield High. Receiving the award from State Savings of Clearfield as the Outstanding Male Student of the Year was Mark Wayment. Mark is the Senior Class President this year. He is also captain of the Track and Cross Country teams. Cen- in Ceremonies held to crown royalty at Job Corps Center !' Mr. Clearfield is Paul Barnett, a nineten year old cooking student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Paul was also selected by his fellow contestants ' as Mr. Personality. Winners in both contests were awarded trophies and cash prizes. Meeting changed SUNSET The Sunset City Council meeting has been changed to tonight at 5 p.m., according to treasurer Sherry Harris. The regularly scheduled Thursday night meeting will begin at 5 p.m. tonight in the city building. Included on the agenda will be a report on major water and street department ' projects, budget information and a discussion on the paramedic program in Davis County. Other items planned for discussion include storm water, work shifts for employes, a water agreement, federal revenue sharing, and vandalism in the city parks. The public is invited to attend the meeting. the Madres. The recipient of this award was Roger Vincent. Roger has earned five athletic letters in his three years at C.H.S. - two each in football -- Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman A. Wayment of Sunset. The State Savings Outstanding Female Student of the Year was Blenda Townley. Blenda is serving this year as the C.H.S. Studentbody Secretary. Like Mark she is a member of the Concert Choir and the Madres. During her Sophomore year, Blenda was a finalist in the What America Means To Me Essay Contest. In 1978 she was chosen as Miss Clearfield. During this past school year Blenda was Clearfield Highs Sterling Scholar in the field of Business. Blenda will graduate this year with an outstanding 3.75 grade point average. Blenda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donal W. Townley of Clearfield. The R. C. Willey Furniture Company of Syracuse this year donated the watches given to the outstanding male and female athletes at Clearfield High. This is the first time R. C. Willey's has given the award to the female athlete is Sheri Stevens. Sheri lettered and was of the gymnastics team all three of her years at C.H.S. During the Gymnastics meets this past season Sheri placed in every event except one. During the Regional Tournament, which she helped Clearfield High School win, Sheri placed first in the optional beam exercise and was honored as the All Around Gymnast in the region. Besides gymnastics, Sheri is also an excellent dancer. She choreographed and danced in the Clearfield High Dance Concert. In her spare time she shares her exceptional talent by teaching gymnastics at the Roy Complex. In addition to her dancing and athletics, Sheri has been able to maintain a 3.16 grade point average in school. Sheri is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Stevens of Clearfield. Larry Read was awarded the R. C. Willey watch as the outstanding male athlete at Clearfield High. In his three years as a Falcon, Larry has received each in six athletic letters-t- wo football, basketball, and baseball. During this past year, Larry was captain of both the football and basketball teams. His outstanding leadership plus his athletic ability were the deciding factors in his selection for this award. Larry has also been a leader in the classroom finishing his senior year with a 3,50 grade point average. Larry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Read of Sunset. Hansens Lumber Company of Ogden also presented a watch to the and basketball and one in track. This past year Roger was named All State in football, all area in both football and basketball, and all region in track. Roger is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vincent of Clearfield. Steve Hill Police Department released information of a traffic study concerning vehicles carrying trash to the dump. The study was made following several complaints that vehicles were carrying trash to the dump . The home, located at 188 N. 1300 W., will be shown May 19 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. and on May 21, 22 and 23 from p.m. brick veneer The home features a double garage, fireplace and full basement. Participants in the building on con-con- t. page 6 it i Spring fair set OGDEN The YWCA of Ogden will be sponsoring the First Annual g Spring Fair June 16 as a major project. The arts and crafts festival has been planned to insure the continuation of the YWCAs support program, according to Bonnie Card-wel- l, doordinator. The YWCAs program include the Womens Crisis Center, the kids pad drop-i- n day care enter, regular classes and the Women Alone program. In addition, the spring fair will also finance new YWCA programs which include the widowed persons service and womens resource center. fund-raisin- Plans for the fair include artisans, demonstrations, goodies and special activities for children. There will be entertainment provided by mimes, singers, musicians and dancers. According to Bula Casteel, executive secretary, the office, located upstairs from Western Auto in Clearfield, will be open Monday through , Friday 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
