Falcon women defeat Skyview by Keith Duncan Winning traditions on the basketball court speaks for itself at Clearfield High. Not only have the men enjoyed tremendous success at the sport, but now the women are doing their part to keep the Falcons high on the list. But traditions are past Coach Margo Jones knows that a winning tradition alone doesnt win ya a championship today. Because of that she and her 1979 edition of girls basketball have their work cut out for them. The Falcons are young this season and lack in experience. Coach Jones says their improving and will get better as each game comes and goes. Clearfield isnt blessed with any super talented performers like theyve had the past couple of years, but they do possess girls capable of making themselves known this season. Jackie Beene, Janey Beene, Dorinda Carey, Sherry Titua, and Jodi Deroushey are but just a few of the past stars that once flew back and down the hardwoods at Clearfield. Ironic enough, all five of these former Falconites participated last week in the Copper Classic at Weber State College. The Classic involved Utahs four major womens college basketball teams who competed for top honors. Karleen Peart is a junior who serves as a forward and center for the Falcons. She has been the leading scorer, averaging 18 points a game. She was one of the big reasons, Clearfield bombed Skyview last week, 60-2- Cindy Rush also plays center and is a junior who has started the last two games.
