When he began in January of 1971, he was a member of the district maintenance paint crew. He is a graduate of Weber High School. Being the owner of a new house trailer, he is looking forward to touring Utah and fishing and hunting after retirement. Clyde W. Gardiner The eight years of Mr. Gardiners employment in the district have been spent as a custodian at Roy Junior High School. Clyde is a graduate of Uintah High School in Vernal and attended Utah State University. He is the recipient of the Ten Year Safety Award from the Bureau of Reclamation. Mr. Gardiner recalls with fondness the years of service he has been able to give to his church and community and looks forward to enjoying the and his grandchildren. Mildred Ilarrop Mrs. Harrop, a graduate of Ogden High School and Weber Junior College, is retiring after 11 years as a library aide at North Ogden Elementary School. She is a member of the Weber Association of Educational Secretaries. Mildred recalls that when she began work in the North Ogden Elementary School in 1966, the library was also the schools stage which meant moving the materials each time there was a program. She is leaving the now well established media center with reluctance, but looking forward to spending some with her time traveling husband. Leonard N. Berghout Berghouts thirty-tw- o Mr. years of teaching have been spent at the then Washington Terrace Junior High School, South Ogden Junior High, Weber High School, Bonneville High, Valley Junior Highland, ending ..as a mathematics teacher at Roy School. Leonard High received his B.S. degree from the University of Utah and his M.S. degree from Utah State University. He is a member of the Utah Education Association, National Education Association, Utah Science Teachers Association, Utah Teachers of Mathematics, and Utah Society of Public Accountants. As he recalls some favorite memories, he is most pleased with his association with his students and their acquired awareness of how their learned skills apply in the business world. Leone C. Bingham Mrs. Bingham is retiring as District School. Food Service Coordinator after a long and successful career in Weber District. She began her career as a cook at Wahlquist Junior High School in September of 1951. Prior to becoming the District Coordinator, she worked for seven years as Unit Manager at Roy High School. Mrs. Bingham is a graduate of Weber High School and has been a certified member of the National School Food Serfor vices organization twenty-si- x years. Her favorite memories are centered around the many challenges she has had during her career as well as the special workshops and conventions she has had the opportunity to conduct and the coach of many district, state, and regional winning attend. J.F. Andersen Mr. Andersen is retiring after football, basketball, education associations including the Utah and Western Business Utah Associations, Vocational Associations, and American Vocational Education Association. After a long career of service, he states that he is looking forward to enjoying his hobbies and their various retirement traveling Stella M. Saunders Mrs Saunders began her work in the district food service program in September of Her twenty-ninyears have included assignments as a cook and assistant unit manager. She is looking forward to time to ' spend with her family. Mary B. Durham Marys twenty-siyears of teaching have included Jordan High School, Jordan District, and Weber High School where she began teaching business in September of 1957. She is a graduate of the University of Utah and a member of x various professional organizations. Mrs. Durham Weber Districts was Teacher of the Year in 1976-77- ," received the Educator Award during Greater Ogden Week in 1977. and The implementing of dividualized instruction in- in Weber Highs Business Department and preparing students for the World of Work are among her favorite memories. After retirement Mary is looking forward to doing the many things she do. hasnt had time to Becker Mr, Richard Becker is ending his 10 years of service as head custodian of the H. Guy Child Elementary School. He also was an assistant head custodian at T.H. Bell Junior High School. He attended Ogden City Schools prior to his military service during World War II. When asked to recall his favorite memories, Mr. Becker mentioned a letter of appreciation he received from a group of Girl Scouts who met in his school. He reluctantly leaves his work in the district particularly because of his love for the young children. Floyd H. Slater Mr. Slater concludes his teaching career as a science teacher at Roy Junior High School. During his thirty-eigh- t years of teaching, he also taught at Parowan High School, Cedar City High School, Wasatch High, and Utah State University. He is a graduate of Tooele High' School, and received his B.S. and M.S. degree from Utah State University. Floyd has been if (0) 1 the friendships of many girls and boys, many of whom he personally encouraged to stay in school through recruititment into the sports programs. Virginia B. Slater After twenty-on- e years of service, Mrs. Salter is retiring from the home economics department at Weber High School. During her career she also held teaching and librarian positions at South Ogden Junior High and Logan Junior High Schools. Virginia is a graduate of Logan High School and Utah State University and is a member of the Weber Library Association, Utah State Library Association, and state, local, and national education associations. She recalls her trips with her husband, Floyd, on the team busses with fondness, and plans to continue to keep up with him as they pursue neville High School, but has taught music and has held the positions of Purchasing Agent and Voc&tional Director for the district. Mr. Andersen is a graduate of Utah State University and the University of Idaho. He attended Juillard School of Weber Music, State, University of Utah, and Brigham Young University. He is an active member of numerous local, state, and Education and championship and McCammon, Idaho, and Lyman, Wyoming, Spanish Fork, Utah. He concludes his career as a business teacher at Bon- national and baseball teams. His favnritp memories include the initial organization of a football team that won the state years of teaching. Prior to coming to Weber District in September of 1943, he taught in Downey forty-on- e activities together. Kldon J. West Mr. Wests twenty-seve- n years in the district were all spent at Weber High School where he recalls favorite memories of dedicated wonderful, during the rennovation of Wahlquist and South Ogden Junior High Schools. He is looking forward to the resumption of his hobby of restoring old cars mingled with a little fishing, hunting, and traveling. K. Heiner Mrs. who has been a teacher at the Washington Terrace Elementary School, is completing twenty-thre- e years of teaching. She began her career in the district in September of 1960. Mrs. Heiner received a B.S. Frances Heiner degree from Utah State University and attended Weber State and University of Utah. She taught at the Utah School for the Deaf and is a member of the Speech and Hearing Association, Volta Weber Bureau, Education Association, Utah Education National Association, Weber County Schools as a student, graduating from Weber High School. When asked to recall favorite memories, she attended faculty and administration and "outstanding people, students. Eldon, a graduate of Utah State University, was the recipient of a special Utah Education Association award, May Be Your Childs Best Friend in 1976 as a result of the influence he had on a former student who became a professional sculptor. He is a member of various state, local, and national education associations including the Utah Trade and Indsutry organization. Mr. West hopes to travel and spend time with his family and in service for his church. Barbara Barbara Turnbow Mrs. Turnbow is retiring after eighteen years of service in the district school lunch program. She worked at the North Park Elementary School with her final Gladys assignment being at Roy Elementary. Gladys is a graduate of North Summit School in Coalville, Utah. As a member of local, state, and national food service organizations, she served as the president of the Weber School Food Services in 1962 and was editor of Whats For Lunch in 1963 and 1964. One of her outstanding memories is of the day she served a Glad, Not Sad plate to 540 High Education Association, and Phi Kappa Phi. Mrs. Heiner is looking forward to traveling after her retirement. Vivian F. Ta lor August of 1963 was the beginning of Mrs. Taylor's fourteen years of employment in the district food services During her career she worked at Sand Ridge Junior High School. Norma C. Betts Mrs. Betts, a graduate of Dixie High School in St. George, Utah, has been serving in the school lunch program in the district since September of 1969. During that time she has worked at North Ogden Junior High School, Ogden-Webe- r Education Center, Sand Ridge neville High School when he was asked to dance across Junior Riverdale High, Elementary with her final assignment being Club Heights Elementary School. Among Normas favorite School, memories is the association she had with the handicapped children at the Ogden-Webe- Education r Center. She and her husband plan to travel as his health improves. Call Mr. Call, who is ' the recipient of three National Science Foundation scholarships, completes his thirty year teaching career at the close of this school year. He has been assigned to Weber High School, beginning his work in the district in September of 1947. Don also taught school in Star Valley, Wyoming, and Rexburg, Idaho. He received his B.S. degree at Brigham Young University and did graduate work at University of California, University of Utah, Utah State University, and Weber State His favorite College. memories center around his pride in Weber High Schools winnings and his appreciation for wonderful coworkers. M. Hodson Mr, t. Lyle Hodson has been employeed as a carpenters helper in the districts maintenance department since July of He attended Weber High School, Weber State 1972.
