Marquardt, vice president of the sponsoring Thiokol Chemical Corp., Ogden, were honored by the U.S. Labor Department in Denver Feb. 7 for their outstanding service to Job . Corps. They were presented the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) Regional Administrators Award by Floyd Edwards, who heads ETA for the six states of Colorado, Montana, North and South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. They were in Denver for an ETA business meeting and did not know they would receive the awards, said Robert M. Shrake, Associate Regional Administrator for Job Corps. Just the thing to brighten this winter up. Ilf residents. JESSE D. BARLOW , Featured this month from the Clearfield Kiwanis Club is member Jesse D. Barlow. Mr. Barlow was born in Bountiful in 1893 and moved to the Clearfield area before the city actually existed. He received his education from Syracuse Elementary to Davis Countys first high school at Bountiful with 25 pupils. He later attended the University of Utah. Mr. Barlow served a mission for the LDS Church in England and also spent time in Europe during World War I. .His first job was in the Clearfield store. He was later hired Clearfield State Bank where he has oq$t the then been employed to this day. He served from cashier to executive vice president to president of the board of directors. He has maintained an insurance company for over 50 years. Dedicated to his city, Mr. Barlow served as Clearfields postmaster for 20 years and was town clerk for 14 years. He was the citys first scout master back in 1919 and later became the first scout commissioner of the No. Davis District, which later became the Gateway District. A charter member of the Kiwanis Gub, Mr. Barlow served as president in 1954 and is a 100 per cent attender. Perhaps one of the greatest highlights of his service has been as chairman of die committee that turned the World War II Navy Surplus Depot into a multi-millio- n dollar copplex of private enterprise. That area is now known as Freeport Center and thousands of jobs have been provided by the businesses operating there. Mr. Barlow was a member of the Davis County School Board for ten years and served as its president for sue years. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Utah Banders Association. He authored the first history of Clearfield detailing its growth from a desert Sand Ridge to the city it is today. He was instrumental in forming the Home and Garden Irrigation Company and serves as its secretary EVERY ROOM IN YOUR HOUSE! They had two sons' David and Haven before she was killed in an accident at 300 N. in 1922. He later married Alfrida Knudsen, who raised the two boys and their one child, Wanda. Alfrida died in 1967. He and his wife, Geneal Beck Barlow, now live at 211 E. Gary William Moberly, 36, 2204 N. 350 W., was issued a citation following a speeding and alcohol complaint. Apparently a bed was set fire following a fight at the Job Corps. A boy was being pursued for a speeding violation. Following a chase, he was also cited for evading an officer and a juvenile citation issued.
