Show CLEARFIELD COURIER, Sept. 27, Foe 0n) By Keith Duncan After a big play and an otherwise lax first half, Clearfield High pulled things together to shut-ou- t Skyview 17-- 0 and give a sweet victory to a 1978 Homecoming gathering. Talented Larry Read seemed to be the big difference in last Fridays clash. Larry helped march his team downfield on keeper plays and short passes and finally threw 39 yards to Roger Vincent for the games first score. Mike Arrant booted the extra point and Clearfield sustained a late second-quart0 lead. Read has tro be on Read has to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league and has proven his worth in every Falcon outing thus far. His favorite receiver, Vincent, is a sure candidate for and possibly Roger has blazing speed and some of the best hands in the league. Read helped to open up the Skyview secondary with his keeper runs that gobbled up five to sue yards a run. His teams drive to the goal line in the second quarter was a key part of the contest. But the Falcons as a whole just couldnt get unloosed. Skyview had1 their Clearfield friends tigurea uui and neither Doug Hamblin or Tim Gooch could penetrate the line. QUARTERBACK LARRY READ races for 10 big yards against Skyview, The Coach Brent Hancock and John Falcons beat the Bobcats 17-- 0 for a sweet Homecoming victory. Flint were the main voices in the half time break, along with Coach Ken Hicks. After the regrouping and generators rebuilt and recharged, the Falcons played like Region champs in the second half. Tim Gooch, starting his first game of the year in place of Mike Arrant, gained well over a 100 yards and that included a 50 yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Coach Hancock commented on the game, saying, We were consistent in the second half. We did the things we had to do on first downs, and got ourselves out of that second and third big situation. We maintained the ball and made some first downs and made the big play, but we couldnt do that in the first half.
