Show THE CITIZEN 10 Dawson of Denver, were married De- cember 18 to Stewart Cosgriff, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Cosgriff of Denver and formerly of Salt Lake. The young couple are touring California on their honeymoon, and will soon be at home to their friends in Salt Lake at 134 U Street. Mr. Cosgriff is prominent among the younger business men of Salt Lake. In a church wedding, Miss Agnes Georgina Kirby, youngest daughter of W. J. Kirby, was married to Charles Poole Thomas, son of Mrs. Lydia Thomas of Salt Lake, in the brides home town of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada, on December 26. The wedding, which was formal, was preceded by a large number of entertainments. Following the ceremony the couple left for Salt Lake where they will make their home. Coming as a surprise is the announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Lear E. Riter of the marriage of their daughter Josephine to Lieutenant Robert Cannon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cannon at Fort Sheridan, Chicago on Wednesday afternoon. The marriage was performed by the army chaplain in the little chapel of the post. The couple were both students at the University of Utah and later Lieutenant Cannon was graduated from West Point. He is attached to the artillery at Fort Sheridan where the couple will make their home. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY . . Incident to the wedding announcements above was the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Pembroke which was celebrated with a large family dinner and reception last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pembroke on East South Temple Street. Hosts for the occasion were the Earl Pembrokes and Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Pembroke, assisted by Miss Helen, Jane, Katherine and Betty Pembroke. Covers were laid for thirty-fiv- e guests at dinner and more than 200 friends of the couple called during the reception in the evening. A musical program was given by Miss Jane Pembroke and Miss Lisle Bradford and Miss nie Margetts gave several readings. PLEASANT PARTIES Fifty guests gathered Tuesday noon at a luncheon at the Newhouse Hotel in honor of Miss Helen Jennings, who will leave soon to make her home in California. Miss Jennings is a past president of the Service Star Legion and the luncheon was given in her honor by the Salt Lake County chapter of the organization. The color scheme was in red, white, and blue, in keeping with the patriotic nature of the society, and the tables were arranged in the shape of a star. During the luncheon a musical program was given by Mrs. T. L. Holman, Mrs. C. M. Osborn and Mrs. Julian Clawson. Mrs. J. B. Moreton presided and Mrs. N. A. Dunyon presented Miss Jennings with a gold ceremonial1 pin of the organization in behalf of its members. hostess at a charming luncheon Tuesday noon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Fitzpatrick, 1441 Military Way, for several of her close friends. Covers were laid for eleven guests. The table was decorated in the holiday motif. Included in the guests were the Misses Helen Shugrue, Margaret Anson, Katherine Ottenstein, Margaret French, Grace May Ivers, Eilleen Ivers, Jane Thiri-o- t, and Mary Jane Boyd. The young hostess was assisted in entertaining by her mother. SOCIETY FLITTINGS Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Keyser will leave January 14 for Hollywood, Fla., where they will spend two weeks. From there they will journey to Havana, Cuba ahd will return to Louisi-ann- a in time to attend the annual Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Mrs. Rowena Allison is spending some time in Portland, Ore., with her son and daughter in law, Mr. Mrs. Edward Allison. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Daly accompanied by their daughter, Margaret, and small sons Billie and Tommy, left by motor on Tuesday for Los Angeles and San Francisco where they will spend several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dern will sail on January 9th for Panama, where they will visit their daughter and Lieutenant and Mrs. William F. Dean. Mrs. Dean was formerly son-in-la- w, Miss Mildred Dern. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Lockhart are spending several weeks in Del Monte. Mrs. Wymond Carey of San Francisco is spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cowans at their home on Second Avenue. Dr. and Mrs. J. 0. Evans have motored to California to spend some time. North Rim Grand Canyon road to be kept open this winter for hauling supplies for $550,000 U. P. Hotel.
