Because of this the modern paved highway has become an economic ne- TJ I cessity. Yet although the mileage of Concrete Roads and Streets has been steadily increasing, our highway system today lags far behind the automobile. The great majority of our highways are as out of date as the single-tracnarrow gauge k, railway of fifty years ago. Such a condition not only seriously handicaps the progress of the automobile as a comfortable, profitable means of transportation, but also holds back commercial, industrial and agricultural n advancement in practically every of the country. It is costing taxpayers millions of dollars annually. Highway building should be continued and enlarged upon. Your highway authorities are ready o carry on their share of this great pub! c work. But they must have your support. Tell themyou are ready to invest in mo e and wider Concrete Highways now. se:-tio- X 5 f, $ I k I J f A r, A A K A i, i V PORTLAND CEMENT ASSOCIATION ( McComick Building SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH A National Organization to Improve and Extend the Uses of Concrete OFF1CE8 IN 29 CITIE8 After July 1 mail planes between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles will i L |
