It enthused playgoers and critics alike.' Hey wood Broun, noted dramatic critic of the New York Tribune said of it: The best comedy of our generation, while' Alexander Woolcott of the New York Times enthused like One of the best comedies, if this: not the very best, ever written by an American.' It is a lamentable fact that tlie American stage offers less than a dozen popular feminine musical comedy stars at the present time. And of this exclusive few, no better liked member can be found than the inimitable little Mitzi. The Magic Ring, best described as a fantastic comedy with music, is said to be the most pleasing starring vehicle roguish Mitzi has ever had to display her rare entertaining talents. It is by Zelda Sears and Harold Levey, well remembered as the authors of Lady Billy, Mitzis last stage offering, and it is declared to even excel that excellent work. The cast is of the metropolitan variety, with Boyd Marshall, Sidney Green-stree- t, Carolyn West, Jeannette MacDonald, Valentine NIerle and others prominently displayed. .. CLONINGER TO PRESENT THE FIRST YEAR NEXT WEEK Laughter and sorrow, sunshine and shadow race through The First Year, a story of the first year of married life with all its comic tragedies which will be next weeks stellar offering of Ralph Cloninger and his players at the Wilkes theatre, starting tomorrow night. . Ralph Cloninger and Miss Anne Berryman will play the famous Frank Craven and Roberta Arnold roles of the lovers and newly-wed- s who cause all the commotion and fun in The First Year. The other members of the Cloninger company will be seen in excellent, vital parts. The First Year lias to do with the first year of married life or Tommy Tucker and wife. The latter goes home to mother after a quarrel and while Tommy is all cut up about it, his woes merely add to the gales of laughter which the play provokes. The First Year is a high royalty play to be presented for the first time at popular prices in Salt Lake City by Mr. Cloninger and his players.
