MANY GOOD FISHING DAYS SPOILED BY HEAVY RAINS. Too Many Fish for Vincent Vacation Days Nearing End; Private Ciubs Try to Hold Privileges. ' The fishing; season will close for a great many of the boys who generally take their vacations during the Fourth of July weeks. and Twenty-fourt- h However in these days of good roads and the automobile a great many roll to their favorite haunts Saturday afternoons and Sundays and enjoy a few hours fishing. So far July has not been giving us the best of weather for fishing on account of many severe rain storms and cloud bursts at the headwaters, but in between times the sport has been good and a majority of the boys report good catches. Many Salt Lakers are now leaving for Idaho, most of them going to the upper Snake river and Madison river districts, where there are plenty of fish and where a pound fish is considered small. Joe Vincent has made some nice catches on the upper Provo, using the Royal Coachman, and every time out he wras compelled to quit long before he wanted to because of the limit. A fishing club has been organized and the on the boys will have trouble in getting Smith-Moorehou- se through there to fish the stream, according to reports which have been brought back by some of the fishermen. It is not fair to allow fishing clubs to take up parts of streams, and a good sportsman should think twice before joining such an organization. With the numerous hatcheries we have in the state now there is no excuse for a scarcity of fish if competent men are hired who will see that the fish are planted in the proper way. There is no necessity for fishing clubs along any of our public streams, who try to exclude others from the stream, and no doubt Dave Madsen, state fish and game commissioner, will find a way to handle such clubs. There is no objection to a party of people building a cabin or cabins along streams for their own convenience, but when they attempt to hog the stream and the fish in it, then the public will have something- to say - about the matter. SACRAMENTO COMING. The Sacramento team will be here Tuesday, July 24, to meet the Bees for the ending Sunday, July 29, when a double header will be. played. The Bees will then leave for the Pacific coast. Sacramento holds down second place in the standing of the teams, and with the Seals leading the league. . ek w-e- TOURIST INFORMATION. On the front page is shown a partial view of Bryce canyon and natures temples caused by centuries of erosion and the colorization is wonderful, and during certain times of the day one would think that the canyon wras artificial and had been really painted in many colors. On the back page is shown the narrows at Zion park. These perpendicular mountains of solid rock are aweinspiring and one wonders how they were placed in such majestic position. Castle peak is seen in the distance in another picture, which shoots its spire high up among the clouds. Near the mouth of Zion canyon we find Rockville in the distance. At the foot is a farmers cottage and the two children on the fence are The Home Guard. Such scenic views as these cannot be found anywhere else in the United States. Hundreds of people have already seen them this year and their praise of the wonders of Utah is being circulated all over the country.
