Show THE CITIZEN 10 LINCOLN HIGHWAY Automobile travel is now in full swing. For the benefit of tourists traveling from one end of the country to the other, the Lincoln Highway association has issued a detailed division report which will greatly aid the traveler on his way. The information is confined to the Lincoln highway from New York City to San Francesco, and is as follows: New York City to Division On Philadelphia, Pa. 98 miles. Wee- 52 hawken Ferry to Princeton miles, excellent, except for 2 mile detour around Metuchen and somewhat Brunswick. New rough through Princeton to Lawrenceville 5 miles, Lawrenceville to poor macadam. Trenton, 6 miles, excellent. Trenton to Philadelphia, 32 miles, excellent. Division Two Philadelphia, Pa., to Chambersburg, Pa. 142 miles. Entire section in good to excellent condition; no detours. New construction going on between Getysburg and New Oxford and west of Malvern being accomplishat a time and will not seried one-haously impede traffic. Oiling schedule of also being conducted on one-haroad at a time, freshly oiled road marked, do not drive on oiled seclf lf tion. Division Three Chambersburg, Pa., to Greensburg, Pa. 122 miles. Perfect road, all well maintained macadam and new concrete; no detours. Be careful of speed in communities. Division Four Greensburg, Pt., to East Liverpool, O. 82 miles. Greensburg to Pittsburg 30 miles, excellent, Pittsburg to East Liverpool, 0. 52 miles,, caution; inquire of Pittsburg Automobile club, 413 Wood street, as to most advisable route west, i. e., via Beaver north of the Ohio river or via Clinton, south of the river; dirt sections of both routes reported to be in bad shape, may be necessary to go via Beaver Falls, East Palestine, Salem and Alliance to Canton. Latter route much longer but paved. Division Five East Liverpool, O. Mansfield, 0. 118 miles. East Liverdetour pool to Lisbon 17 miles; new around construction marked (8mi.) dirt road and hilly, but fair in dry weather. Going east the detour is to the right at the bridge, just as you are leaving Lisbon (one-watraffic). west leave Lincoln the Going highway near the big concrete bridge 5 miles y east of Lisbon. Lisbon to Canton 36 miles, all good. Canton to Ashland 51 miles, excellent. Ashland to Mansfield, 14 miles, paved, except one-hamile dirt, fair condition. Division Six Mansfield, 0., to Van Wert, O 111 miles. Detour Mansfield to Bucyrus via Shelby and Crestlf line after construction starts on Gallon detour; Bucyrus to Osceola 7 miles, excellent; Osceola to Van Wert 79 miles, passable but rough in places (old macadam). Division Seven Van Wert, 5., to South Bend, Indiana 116 miles. Van Wert to Fort Wayne, Ind 35 miles, good to state line, detour marked; Fort Wayne to Ligonier 38 miles, detour between Fort Wayne and Churu-buscconstruction under way, detour marked. Churubusco to Ligonier, ex o, cellent. Ligonier to South Bend 43 miles, excellent. Division Eight South Bnd, Ind., to Chicago Heights, 111. 83 miles. South Bend to New Carlisle 14 miles, excellent. New Carlisle to La Porte 13 miles, very rough old macadam; La Porte to Vaipariaiso 23 miles, ex- cellent; at Valparaiso detour over good, well marked road via Hobart to Merrillville (construction under way) 20 miles. Merrillville to Chicago Heights 17 miles, concrete. Division Nine Chicago Heights, Illinois, to Clinton, Iowa 166 miles. All ' 'cellent concrete paving with exception of stretch between Plainfield and Aurora (13 miles) fair detour marked construction under way. Division Ten Clinton, Iowa, to Marshalltown, Iowa 164 miles. Clinton to Dewitt 20 miles, concrete paving; DeWitt to Cedar Rapids 67 miles, fair to good, two short detours bad in wet weather, marked. Cedar Rapids to Marshalltown 75 miles, all excel- lent, including marked detour between Chelsea and Tama 12 miles. Division Eleven Marshalltown, Iowa, to Dennison, Iowa 142 miles. Dirt roads in excellent condition; short detour at Scranton, about 85 miles of gravel road in this division, balance afTected by wet weather. Division Twelve Denison, Iowa, to Council Bluffs, Iowa 76 miles. All dirt road, but well graded and raged and in excellent condition, except for a few hours after each rain. No de- tours. Division Thirteen Omaha, Neb., to Kearney, Neb. 204 miles. Paved Omaha to Fremont 39 miles. Fremont to Kearney some concrete, some gravel, some dirt affected by weather conditions, good when dry. Division Fourteen Kearney, Neb., to Sidney, Neb. 226 miles. Kearney to Gothenburg 66 miles, excellent dirt and gravel, no detours. Gothenburg to Brady 13 miles, good with the exception of crossing irrigation canal (temporary structure) ; detour south over well marked road from Brady to North Platte 23 imles, good dirt. North Platte to Sidney 124 miles. Division Fifteen Sidney, Neb., to Laramie, Wyo. 157 miles. Road in first-clas- s condition entire distance, short section of construction going on between Cheyenne and Laramie, no de- tour required. Division Sixteen Laramie, Wyo., to Rock Springs, Wyo. 238 miles. Laramie to Medicine Bow 60 miles, excellent. Medicine Bow to Rawlins, excellent except short rough stretch Rawlins to Rock near Walcott. Springs 114 miles, fair to excellent except rough stretch between Thayer Junction and Point of Rocks 7 miles. Division Seventeen Rock Springs, Wyo., to Echo, Utah 150miles. Rock Springs to Green River 15 miles, excellent; fair to good to Lyman 62 miles. Lyman to Evanston 41 miles, likely to be muddy and bad, but cars going through. Evanston to Wasatch, Wasatch Utah 10 miles, excellent. to Echo, poor but passable 25 miles. Division Eighteen Echo, Utah, to Gold Hill, Utah 195 miles. Echo to Salt Lake City 50 miles, excellent. Salt Lake City to Tooele 40 miles, ex Tooele to Bushs ranch 19 miles, excellent. Fisher Pass between Bushs ranch and Orrs ranch (17 miles) in fair shape; inquire of J. H. Waters, Newhouse hotel, Salt Lake City, regarding conditions on desert. Goodyear Cutoff passable, but rough (impassable in wet weather). Black Point to Gold Hill 12 miles, fair; weather very materially affects condi- cellent. Salt valued Lake at district crops $2,500,000. Member Federal Reserve 8ystem 4 tions now. Division Nineteen Gold Hill, Utah, to Eureka, Nevada 194 miles. Gold 13 miles, fair with Hill to Ibapah some rough stretches. Ibapah, Utah, to Ely, Nevada 95 miles, fair to good, Schellbourne Pass open. Ely to Eureka 87 miles, fair with several rough stretches on the flats. Division Twenty Eureka, Nevada, to Fallon, Nevada 91 miles. Eureka to Austin 73 miles, good condition. Austin to Fallon 118 miles, reported excellent, New Pass canyon fair, flats hard and travelable. Division Twenty-on- e Fallon, Nev., to Placerville, Cal., direct, via Carson City 152.8 miles. Fallon to Leetes-vill- e Fork 8 miles, excellent. Leetes-vill- e via Lahontan dam to Dayton 45 miles, fair to good, extensive improvement under way, no detours. Dayton to Carson City 13 miles, good. Car-so- n City to Placerville, California, via Lake Tahoe and the Ostermann grade 86 miles, now open and being traveled. Division Twenty-tw- o Placerville, Cal., to Oakland and San Francisco-1- 77 miles, all paved. Twenty-thre- e Division Fallon, to via Reno, Nev., Sacramento, Cal. 213 miles. Fallon to Reno 67 miles, fair to good, short detours on account of new construction. Reno via Dog valley grade and Doner summit to Auburn 110 miles, will open for travel about June 1st, but rough in places. Auburn to Sacramento 36 miles, paved.
