Show TH5 0 JMP SAILS 4' .9 JLJ&E&US WOODEN KIMONO GRANADA So successful has the Salt Lake showing of Show Boat been at the Granada Theatre and so many in- sist ant demands have been made upon Manager ). E. Schayer for a continuance of the run that, in order that all may see this famous Carl Lemmle production it will be played to and including Tuesday night. The picture has been made from Edna Ferbers famous story of the same name and is being presented on the stage by the renowned producer of magnificent revues, Florenz Ziegfeld. Beginning Wednesday the Granada will present another dynamic hit when the management presents Mary Pickford in her first talking picture Coquette, the latest and probably the greatest sensation in filmdom. Mary Pickford was a stage star in her own right even before she ever appeared in pictures and consequently it is no wonder, that her first talking picture should be such a remarkable success. It looks as though the Granada will be playing to standing room only for the next couple of CITIZEN . Mystery plays are the hardest forms of theatrical entertainment to devise, as every motive must be doubly checked and the spectators attention, while fastened on one set of characters, must be gently diverted to another, without his feeling that the author is resorting to mental trickery. John Floyd, the author of Wooden Kimono, which will be the offering at the Play House next week, claims to be open and above board in his dealing with all his characters and he is almost positive that no one in his audience will solve the many problems in his play. Realizing that the most terrifying situation may yet have its laughs, Wooden Kimono, greatest of mystery thrillers, abounds in uproarious fun to overcome the gasps and shrieks that are sure to accompany some of the almost unearthly doings of important personages in the play. weeks. THE WIND Lillian Gish in a picture of unusual power synchronized with sound and music is the feature picture on the big program at the Pantages this week. The title of the picture is The Wind and it affords Miss Gish with a most unusual opportunity to display emotions and sweetness and artistry that again prove her versatility. Lars Hanson is her leading man in The Wind and he, also makes an individual hit. For the vaudeville section of the bill, six acts are presented all of which are of big time calibre. The headliner is Jack DeBell and Company in a clever skit entitled Jacks, Queens and A Joker. An exceptionally clever added feature is the Golden Bird which proves to be a canary with a real vaudeville experi- ence. The Golden Bird is 'presented by Lorraine Evon who is a clever violinist. Bums and Kane do a little Broadcasting with much comedy. A tumbling act that is actually fast and at times furious is called The Speeders and certainly lives up to its billing. Edythe Bolilman known in vaudeville as Little Miss Personality has a clever act and Vic Honye Trio presents a snappy song and dance revue. Plenty of HOT WATER always on tap!
