A. has had a basketball program for many years, but due to the fact that so many of the boys are serving Uncle Sam, our stake has organized a Senior Scout league for boys from 15 to 18. Our team, coached by Ralph Tingey, has won two games as this paper goes to press while losing only one. The scrappy team is made up of the following boys: Shirley Randall, Lawrence Rollins, Clarence Hatch, Phil Sessions, Art Harris, Harlo Randall, Merlyn Perkins, and Keith Shipley, a recent new ward member. The boys decided to nickname themselves the Hot Shots. A resume of the games: December 1 thumped Congratulations ... tohisErnest 24th Recommends Received: West Bountiful, 24-1- 7. Davis in New "Big Six" Starting before their opponents could awaken themselves, the Hot Shots January, 1944 For several years the three high schools fo Salt Lake City have been bragging about how they could trounce Davis, Granite, et. Well, theyve got their chance to try. Recently a new basketball league was organized with the following schools: Davis, Granite, Jordan, East, South and West. Annual Family Christmas Party Hold w their star. The Hot Shots played well, however, Sessions scoring 9 points. December 15 Performing smoothing and hitting the basket with pleasing accuracy, the Hot Shots dumped 40-3- 2. Farmington, In the first quarter S. Randall, Rollins and Sessions led the attack with some hot shooting, and they led 14-J. Golden Barton, speedy Farmington forward, helped Farmington close the gap at halftime and in the third quarter they momentarily took the lead, but in the last quarter they faded fast and our boys peppered the hoop from all sides. Randall had his best night with 7. Vinton Smith. Christmas gifts were presented to The each. M. I. A. Fireside In the evening of December 12 a fireside meeting was held at the home of Margaret Major. A nice program was presented with such performers as Joyce Wilson, Lila Folsom, Illeen Worsley, Elgin Rigby, and Lorean Smith, and refreshments were served. BUY U. S.
