We don’t even have the choice to keep Castle Valley the way it is. But we do have the power to choose what direction our growth will take. Of course, one of our choices is to do nothing and just let things happen. Making this choice NOT TO CHOOSE is a major choice in itself, with specific consequences. If we decide to choose too late, we will find that we have created I have gone to four of the six concerts performed by the musical group from New York. The incredibly skilled artists, from all over the world, played all kinds of instruments including their voices. The program was started by Michael Barrett and Leslie Tomkins three years ago. They have been coming to Moab every fall since then, and hopefully will continue doing so. Jon Deak is the Moab Music Festival’s composer—in-residence for 1995. His pieces are mostly childrens' stories put to music. They are wonderfully funny and it is amazing how well the instruments portrayed the characters. I have had a special experience with the Moab Music Festival musicians since I was picked to play with them in the concert on the 17th. I went to three masters classes which were a little overwhelming at first. There I received special help from three different professional celloists. I learned a lot from them, different things from each one. It has a very satisfying feel to know that I have played with some of the best. It is very inspirational. Mara Ginnane another Spanish Valley or Moab for ourselves. Not that there is anything wrong with either, but some of us like the idea of living in a more rural and uncongested community than either of the above. -- TOO MUCH WORK! Some of us like the idea of living in a small community where you don’t have to worry about crime, or about your children being harmed, and where there’s a good chance that after a few years you will know most of the people living here. A beautiful idea, but one which is threatened by some realities which are waiting to become problems: POPULATION GROWTH: Out of the 448 lots in Castle Valley, about 120 are occupied. That means we have the potential for another 320 houses being added. That’s a lot of people and a lot of traffic that we don’t have now. While it will be quite a while before all that development occurs, we are moving steadily in More Looking Ahead p. 6 POA ANNUAL MEETING CONGRATULATIONS WHEN: Sat.
