The frog pond that pools out of the small lake is teeming with half~dollar size green frogs, large bullfrogs, and tiny salamanders, all just waiting to be caught by eager children. The water is cool on your legs as you carefully squish through the muddy bottom. It smells of rich, watery soil, filled with sulfur, on which wild plants thrive at the banks. Rough wooden boards hold in one side while one lets just enough water over the top so that the stream is free to continue on it's merry way. Sometimes the water gets low when the beaver build dams that block the stream of water flowing to the pond. If you follow the stream to a path, and follow the path through the dense woods you come out to a sparkling, crystal clear lake. A dock waits with a canoe and rowboat tied securely to it. In the middle of this oasis a wooden raft floats, ready for a tired swimmer to find refuge. Lily pads dot the water, some laden with heavenly white flowers, others with frogs or dragonflies resting upon them. The water, as you lock down into the deep abyss, is blue-green and without bottom On the surface, a few weeds float that have been stirred one that a number of people have asked me for.
