Show PAGE 15 THE ZEPHYRDECEMBER 1992 neighbors, friends, and business associates. They live in the real world, outside of bureaucracy and government Their need is simple, and I believe their point of view is the only one that ALL AMERICAN AGENCY should matter. i AVERAGE CITIZENS SOMETIMES GET LEFT OUT OF THE PROCESS From my perspective towards the bottom end of the economic scale, I often see some problems in getting my view represented. The way things have been here in Moab, business leaders usually take charge, and direct the future for the rest of us. For some purposes, I guess this can produce good results. The more successful (financially) are given a lot of respect and a lot of clout. The business community's focus is on controlled growth, on building up their businesses, on infrastructure needs such as courthouses and jails and hospitals, on attracting the right kind of new residents, and on planning. They are very vocal because it's in their best interest to direct the future the way hey want They have the financial resources which allow them plenty of time for meetings and planning that future. Then you have the rest of us. We're trying to improve our lot in life, too. But we have a different perspective. We can't get too interested in big plans. We don't focus, for example, on how we could increase emergency room facilities to better serve the tourists. Most of us can't afford to use the emergency services of the hospital anyway. If we could dream, we might ask for access to preventive medicine. You know the concept, where you stop problems before they get out of hand, where you change your habits to stay healthy. But, we've just been getting by without help, because we can't afford the Ugh price tag. We focus on our daily struggle to survive. I do not think it is fair for our urgent needs to be set aside. I think the other plans, projects, and expansions should be set aside instead. REAL ESTATE 505 NORTH MAIN Norma Nunn .
