Show t - THE CITIZEN THURSDAY, DEC. 23, 1976 ' Club News OBITUARIES PHILLIP RUDY Phillip Owen Rudy, 77, of ISO West 3rd South, Lewiston, died Monday at the Logan hospital. He was born March 26, 1899, in Vernal, the son of Josiah Phillip and Martha Timothy Rudy. He' married Blanche Cloward Jan. 19, 1922, in Vernal. Mr. Rudy received his education in Vernal, and had lived in San Jose, Calif., for 31 years where he was a machine operator for the Continental Can Company until his retirement. He moved to Lewiston in 1968. He was a member of the Lewiston 1st LDS Ward, and an Army veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Blanche Cloward Rudy, and the following sons and dau- ghters, Eugene C. Rudy, Christmas Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Lorraine) Scott of Pocatello, Alta Mather of California; 11 grand- children; 17 . President two brothers, Mil-to- n Sant, Salt Lake City, and Orson Sant, Ogden. Two sons, a daughter, and five brothers preceded her in Verla Noble greeted everyone and conducted. Minutes were read by Samantha Rich and the pledge to the flag was led by Sarah Funk. A short business meeting followed. A Christmas program was given with the group singing Christmas carols, then a Christmas thought by President Noble. A vocal solo by Erma Krusi, who. sang Silent Night," in German, accompanied by Alice Jensen. Refreshments were served at the kitchen table which was centered with a center- - dcoHi Funeral services were Wednesday in the Pocatello 10th Ward Chapel. The fam- ily received friends at the Downard Funeral Home. Burial was in the Smith-fiel- d Cemetery. LINDON SWAIN8TON Lindon Frost Swainston, Friday in the Logan Hospital following a long illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1901, in Whitney, a son of George 75, died Janette Larson, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Cornelia Nebe-ke- r, Springville; Mrs. Paul (Olive) Isaacson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lawrence (Thelma) Young, Orem, and Mrs. Delma Long, Roosevelt. Funeral services were conducted in the Nelson Funeral Chapel in Logan, under the direction of Bishop K. Sid Karren. Burial was in the Mendon Cemetery. A.H. BUXTON , Alfred Henry Buxton, 59, former Cache resident, died Wednesday in the McKay hospital. He was born April 14, 1917, in Bates, Idaho, a son of Alfred L. and Mercedes Kent Buxton. On Sept. 3, 1943, he married Bernice Brian in Sioux Falls, S.D. The marriage was later solomnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Buxton was a contractor and owner of the Personalized Builders, and was a member of the LDS Church. Surviving are his widow, Ogden; three sons and two daughters, Darrell A., North Ogden; D. Greg, Layton; Gary R., Roy; Mrs. Kent (Susan) Allen, and Miss Carol Buxton, both of Ogden; six grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, Lyle T., Sandy, Ore.; Jesse L., Orem; C. Val, Fairborn, Ohio; Nathan L., Preston; Mrs. Mice Poole, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; Mrs. Ransom, Preston, and Mrs. Joyce Tarbet, Smith-fiel- Roskelley Dec. 20, 1928, in the Lagan LDS Temple. She died March 14, 1974. Mr. Swainston fanned in the Whitney area most of his life, was a bus driver 12 years for the Eastside School District, and a member of the LDS Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Henderson, Preston, and Mrs. William (Linda) Bair, Richmond; five grandchildren; three one brother and two sisters, ' n; Howard Swainston, Whitney; Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Komer and Mrs. Dave (Ora) Clark, both of Ogden. Funeral services were Monday in the Whitney Ward chapel. Friends called at the Webb Mortuary in Preston Sunday evening and Monday from 10:30 until time of services. The Newton Ward Sacrament meeting was conducted by first counselor Myron Benson. He announced the mission farewell for David Rigby for next Sunday Dec. 26. He will be leaving for the Taiwan Mission in January. He also read the memberships for the Ray Harris family. He presented Carson Harris to be ordained as a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. He was born Feb. 24, 1908, in Hyde Park, the son of James Thurston and Ethel Delois Pulton Balls. He was a carpenter by occupation. He married Rossetta Elizabeth Barker June 9, 1930, in Logan. The marriage later was sloemnized in the u Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Balls was a member of the Hyde Park 2nd LDS Ward, and had served as ward clerk, as a teacher in the auxiliaries, and in the genealogical organization.
