Show I I THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 1975 THE CITIZEN Briefs Laura Jean and Lee McDonald and family, Archie, Scott and Carolyn, have moved from Smithfield to 2340 Ada Street in Pocatello, Idaho. Mr. McDonald will be emas ployed with Bucyrus-Eri- e recruiter of personnel. A son, David, will stay in Logan where he is employed by Bryan Sorensen in his machine shop. On January 1 lie will go to Pocatello where he will attend school. Margene and Dr. David Miles and children, Melissa and Jonathan, will be moving into their new home in the near future. Mr. Miles is a dentist and is practicing in Smithfield at 73 South Main. PEARL HAWKINS, Lewiston, prepares an onion for her special onion rings. (Sharolyn) Stokes, Brigham City; Mrs. Denny (MarDene) Manning, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. LaMar (Sharma) Sleight, Ft. Benning, Georgia; Mrs. Roger (Jean) Seamons, Treasureton, Idaho; Linda and Janice, both at home in Lewiston. Pearl, along with serving as a Relief Society visiting teacher, also works as a custodian of the Lewiston Second Ward. She has sent along some of her favorite recipes for ali to enjoy. Citizen Photo Emma Marriott of Newton and Cynthia Roundy of Cache Junction returned recently from attending the Palmyra pageant at Hill Cumorah in New York. The tour took the old Mormon trail through Nebraska to Winter Quarters. They visited the old Mormon Cemetery where so many pioneers had died. THICK FRENCH DRESSING cup honey teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon celery salt 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 1 teaspoon finely grated onion 4 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice or 2 T. each 1 cup salad oil 1 teaspoon celery seed Blend together all ingredients except oil and celery seed in either blender or mixing bowl. Add salad oil almost a drop at a time, increasing gradually, while beating constantly. Stir in celery seed. Makes 1 cups. Note: Do no double recipe. If needed make recipe two separate times. ONION RINGS cup milk cup flour 2 eggs 2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder pepper 1 tablespoon sugar Beat together and dip onion rings. Fry at until golden brown. 1 1 350 degrees PARFAIT Dissolve 1 package jello (any flavor) in 1 cup boiling water. Add 1 cup sugar. Cool. Add mixture to 1 quart milk. Freeze in refrigerator tray. Whip with just before serving. 7-- ROOT BEER 3 ounce bottle extract 5 pounds sugar 4'x gallons water 6 pounds dry ice 2 hours before serving 24 HOUR ROOT 2 teaspoons root 2 cups sugar BEER beer extract (scant) teaspoon dry yeast Dissolve yeast in ' cup warm water. Add to sugar and extract and put in gallon jug. Fill with warm water. Keep warm 24 hours. Chill. z and viewed the Atlantic Ocean. En route home they toured the visitors center at Independence, Mo., met Mr. and Mrs. Heaton, former president of the Logan Temple and his wife, who are now in charge of the visitors center as LDS missionaries. They also toured Carthage Jail at Nauvoo, 111., Liberty Jail at Quincy, 111., the State Capitol Bldg, at Jacksonville, 111. En route home they traveled through Kansas and Colorado. The family of Edith and Walter Cooley of Newton held their family reunion at Macks Park in Smithfield Saturday afternoon Smithfield and evening. All arrangements for the reunion and the delicious supper were made by Marcia C. Chambers, granddaughter of Edith and Walter Cooley and daughter of Lyle and Donna Cooley of Newton. Also present were a daughter, Reta and her husband, Lawrence Cantwell of Smith-fieland their children, Beth and her husband Jerry Hendrickson and son, Carol Faye and her husband, Boyd Rigby and two children of Bountiful; Larry and his wife, Sheryl Cantwell and four children of Beaver and Nancy and Kristine Cantwell of Smithfield. A son, Lyle Cooley, his wife Donna and their children, Kayleen and her husband, Martin Jensen, and three children, Marcia and her husband, Steve Chambers, and two children of Smithfield; Lila and David Cooley of Newton also d, attended. Also a daughter, Sarah and her husband, John Edge! of Las Vegas, and her children, Bill and Kathleen Richardson and three children of Tempe, Ariz., Kelly Richardson of Kennewick, Wash.. and Susan Griggel and two children. church meetings were held on the bus. Fast meeting and Sunday School were held in the new Stake Center and mission home, and the Second Ward chapel in New York City. Mary Ann Wilson, 185 Summit Drive, Smithfield, and family, Ricky 16, Craig 15, Gina 11. and Tricia 4. are moving to Southern Alberta, Canada. She will be near her folks. Mrs. Wilson has been a real estate saleswoman ry and Jill have sold their home and are building a new one near the golf course. Jeanne and Leon Beutler and son, Paul, drove to Haming Gorge to visit her sister and husband, Margaret and Dr. Louis Jorgensen. They also did some fishing and boating. Helen and Floyd D. Hand-le- y and family, Christen, Heath and Matthew have moved to Bountiful where Mr. Handley has been transferred. He was a pharmisist at Grand Central in Logan. Frances and LaVar E. Leonhardt of 336 South 6th East, Smithfield and family, Francine, Daymon, Travis and Natasha, are moving to Ferron, Utah. Mr. Leonhardt has been transferred from the Cache Instructional Workshop to the junior high school in Smithfield joined by Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Kay and family, Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Burton V. Isaacson and family, Tremonton, and Lee Larsen, East Garland, vacationed at Grays River, Wyo., where they fished, went water skiing, horseback riding and canoeing. Mary and Frank Tomsick of Salt Lake City, and lifetime friends, visited Mary and Cyril Ledingham in Smithfield, Friday. Dinner guests at the home of their daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brown, Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ziegler and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ziegler of Farrell Mr. and Mrs. Moulton of Smithfield. Bert Others attending were from Winder, Preston, Whitney, Richmond, Hyrum, Logan, Lewiston, Dayton and Franklin. Darryl Adams, son of Janet and DeVere Adams, Fielding, has been taken out of intensive care at the Salt Lake LDS Hospital. He will be in the hospital four more months. His grandparents are Pearl and Earl Gordon of Smithfield. Dorothy and Melvin L. Creger have moved from Logan to 286 N. 2nd West, 10. d. He received a broken neck and a broken back. Clair Robinson, counselor, was in charge of Sacrament meeting at the Seventh Ward Sunday evening. Released from die Primary was Glen-n- a Payne and Peggy Connors. Mr. Creger drives a Ferron. Laurel and Paul Woodbury and family, Jan and Jason, drove to Southern Utah and met her sister and husband, Iola and Max Whittaker from Sanford, Conn. Mr. and Mrs. Ardith and flatbed truck for Logan City. The Cregers are enjoying their new home. A summer social was held at Twin Lakes by the Franklin Del Monte Plant. Honored On 80th Mildred Sutherland of Newton was honored on her 80th birthday at her home by family members.
