Greene, OPA price executive, said today. Citing the bureau of agricultural economics October report on the dairy situation, Mr. Greene said that fluid milk and cream consumption has increased 31 per cent or 335.4 pounds to 441.6 lbs. per person since 1935 per year. The production has increased only 24 percent, from 335.7 to 417.0 pounds per year. Fluid njilk and, cream is the most profitable dairy product, he pointed out. Production of butter for civilian consumption has dropped 27 percent since 1941, he said, adding that the rationing program had aided in fair distribution during the shortage. Since restrictions on the manufacture of ice cream have been lifted, dairy men have been diverting cream to that industry and receiving better prices than for cream sold for production of butter. Ice cream consumption reached the highest recently point in history. of other dairy Consumption products, except cheese, has indecreased also with civilian mand for evaporated milk going up 30 percent in the last 10 years.
