The Beautification committee of the Logan Chamber of Commerce through tlie organization ha offered cash prize for the two best essay from tlie English Department of the Logan Senior high scliool about the Logan Temple grounds. The title of this essay will be. "Our Temple Grounds, a place of beauty and a scenic asset to Logan City." Tlie contest close May 15 and the essays are limited to 500 words. Tlie Committee feel that Logan Temple Grounds are outstanding, and all improvements In the city should be centered around it. For location there are no better cites. When President Brigham Young and hi party dedicated the site In ,1877, he remarked that he had not seen any finer location for a Temple. At present the grounds are In keeping with the location. Tlie view of the city and the valley from tlie Temple Grounds is very Impressive. Tlie Temple building can be seen from most any point upon entering the valley. It Is one of the first things In the valley to attract the attention of the people, especially tourists. A. L. Cole, chairman of the Beautification Committee, and D. A. Woodland, who is In charge of on the church grounds, feel that our Temple grounds should be advertised more and called to the attention of the public, Mr. Woodland states that last Tear of the western states and there were no grounds more outstanding and beautiful than the Logan Temple Grounds. The committee feels that a great deal of credit is due the church and especially to President J. R. Shepard ane his workers who have charge of the grounds. All the flowers, shrubs and trees are named so that this makes it much more interesting to visitors. The winning essays will be published. The committee is after Ideas, and the essays will be judged principally on this basis. Child Brought To Logan With Broken Thigh Lewiston Elaine Watterson, 6, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William a fractured Watterson, suffered right thigh late Sunday afternoon when she fell off a bam.
